Ever since Slay the Spire ($9.99) was announced for mobile what feels like a long time ago, we’ve been looking forward to checking it out. MegaCrit’s roguelike deckbuilder was an absolute joy to play when it launched on PC and eventually on consoles including Nintendo Switch. We’ve been covering news about the mobile version for a while now and everyone was super excited when MegaCrit finally announced that Slay the Spire was hitting iOS this month with more news to come at the Guerrilla Collective showcase. The big news is that Slay the Spire is out now on iOS. Instead of announcing a release date with pre-orders, the game is available right now. Watch the trailer for it below:
I’ve been playing Slay the Spire on iPhone 11 over the last few days. You can expect a full review early next week but the port is pretty fantastic so far. Having already played it with both button and touch control son Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Lite, it is interesting to see where the mobile version outclasses the Nintendo Switch version and vice versa. If you’ve been holding out on getting Slay the Spire on any other platform for the mobile version, your wait is now over. Check out Slay the Spire on the App Store for $9.99. The only complaint I have in my time played so far is that some touch targets are too small on iPhone 11 for the menus. It runs very nicely and looks awesome using the full width of the screen. I will be trying it on iPad this weekend.
With Slay the Spire out, I think my next most anticipated release is a potential port for Into The Breach from the developers of FTL. Check out Shaun’s Switch review and our forum thread for Slay the Spire. Have you been playing it on Nintendo Switch or PC?
