This past July developer Clickteam announced that they’d struck a deal with Scott Cawthon, who had created the worldwide phenomenon Five Nights at Freddy’s series on the Clickteam Fusion engine, to remaster and update all of the existing Five Nights at Freddy’s games on mobile as well as bring the previously desktop only Five Nights at Freddy’s 6: Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria Simulator and Ultimate Custom Night to both iOS and Android. This all kicked off with the remastered update for the original Five Nights at Freddy’s launching right around the time of that announcement, and then next was FNAF 6: Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria Simulator arriving in mid-August. The next planned release was the remastered update for Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 ($2.99), but unfortunately it didn’t come quite as quickly as expected as Clickteam had to spend time sorting out a strange issue with the Google Play Store. With all that out of the way though, the Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 remastered update is finally now available today.
This update is free and includes high resolution artwork and sound effects from the PC version of Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, and it also supports the larger screens of modern mobile devices. Because the game was designed with a 4:3 aspect ration though, things had to be stretched to fill out the wider mobile screens, so Clickteam has thoughtfully included the option to let you play in the stretched widescreen mode or the original 4:3 aspect ratio mode. And as with the first game’s remaster, this update also adds option IAP to the game in the form of a “Survival Kit" which is just a bunch of cheats if that’s your type of thing. With today’s update to Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 putting Clickteam back on track, my gut tells me their next release will be Ultimate Custom Night which is sort of like a Build-Your-Own-Five-Nights-At-Freddy’s game featuring characters from throughout the series. That’s just a guess though, and nobody knows exactly when the next release will be, but for now it’s nice to see Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 get the remastering treatment with today’s update on both iOS and Android.
