Last week we posted about a new competitive multiplayer game called Triangul8 from developer James Hutt, who was one of the designers on the absolutely fantastic puzzler Tiny Bubbles ($3.99). In this new game each player would take turns placing different colored triangles on a board with the goal of creating a larger triangle where all three points are made up of one player’s color of triangle, which can also include the red starter triangle. If you’re able to do that, you win! It’s such a simple and clever mechanic that reminds me of a hybrid of Tic-Tac-Toe and Connect Four. Triangul8 is also a physical board game, and this brief video does a great job explaining the mechanics.
So after that initial reveal last week, James Hutt has now settled on a release date for the digital mobile version of Triangul8. It’ll officially launch on both iOS and Android December 15th, just about three months from today. If you’re the impatient type and you’re an Android user you can actually check out the open beta version on the Google Play Store right now, and if you’re a fan of physical games you can buy the physical version of Triangul8 right now for your next board game night. And like, if you’re REALLY impatient you could just cut a bunch of triangles out of different colors of construction paper and play like that? Personally I’ll be waiting until December when the mobile version of Triangul8 hits the App Stores.
