Feral Interactive’s GRID Autosport ($9.99) is not only one of the deepest racing games available on mobile, but it’s also one of the most visually impressive. The game is just drop dead gorgeous. But somehow, some way, those rascals at Feral have performed some sort of black magic and are preparing an update for GRID on iOS that amps up the visuals in a big way. Just when you thought it couldn’t look any better… it’s going to look way better! We’re talking things like improved lighting effects and real-time shadows that make GRID truly look like the console quality racer that it is. Best of all? These new visual improvements aren’t strictly for Apple’s latest iPhones, and will benefit every device that supports GRID already. That means “iPhone SE, iPhone 7 and newer, the iPad (2017 and 2018) and any iPad Pro." Check out this side-by-side comparison video.
Pretty great right? This version 1.2.4 update is slated to hit before the end of the year and it will be released for free. If you’re somehow new to GRID on mobile, the game was originally developed by Codemasters and released for consoles and PC back in 2014. The wizards at Feral, who had also ported the game to Mac previously, ported the entire game to iOS and released it last December. The entire game made its way to iOS with very little compromise, and with a dizzying array of options for both graphics and gameplay it’s the type of game you can totally tailor to your specific tastes whether they be more towards the simulation side or the arcade racing side, and everything in between. Long story short: We love the crap out of GRID and are more than happy to see even more improvments coming its way. Look for this new update to arrive this year and once we have a more concrete release date we’ll let you know.
