Great Karazhan Decks, Best Standard Decks, and More ‘Hearthstone’ Weekly News in ‘Touchstone’ #63

TouchArcade Rating:

Welcome to another Touchstone Tavern, our weekly Hearthstone (Free) news roundup, and this one probably finds you all going through withdrawal as One Night in Karazhan, the latest adventure, is now officially over. All good things come to an end, I suppose, and so did Karazhan. It’s been a fun little ride, and I’m glad to see some of the new cards having an impact on the game already; it’s always entertaining waiting to see whether people’s predictions about card power levels were correct or way off the mark. This past week’s news was on the limited side, possibly because everyone was too busy playing the last wing. Still, we have some interesting decks from, and card predictions about, Karazhan, and some more talk on Yogg-Saron. And, of course, the best videos of the week. So, let’s wipe our silent tears, say goodbye to Karazhan, and move on.

The Spire Normal and Heroic Guide

If you haven’t beaten the fourth and final Karazhan Wing, you can use our guide to easily make it through Normal and Heroic and get those fun cards. The Spire was quite fun, especially the Netherspite boss with the clever portal mechanic. Overall, I’ve enjoyed the whole Adventure, and now I’m looking forward to the next expansion and to new cards. Check out our guide here.

Interesting Decks from the Last Karazhan Wing

The Spire has given us some fun cards, and this story looks at some of the interesting decks that pros are coming up with using those new cards. Reddit user stonekeep has put together a compilation of decks by popular streamers after the Spire release, and it’s definitely worth a look because you’ll see good decks but also see how great players go about using new cards in their decks. There are decks like Reynad’s Malygos Druid (using Moonglade Portal and Medivh the Guadrian), Hotform’s Tempo Mage (using Medivh), and more. Check them all out here.

September’s Ranked Season is The Burning Legion

Unsurprisingly, this month’s card back is The Burning Legion in honor of the latest World of Warcraft expansion. The card back looks really nice with the purple and the green dominating. If you want to get your hands on this one, all you need to do is get to Rank 20 either in Wild or Standard. Easy stuff, really.

Karazhan Has Tamed the Warrior

This story talks about the meteoric rise of Warrior before the Karazhan adventure (when six different archetypes were competitive) and its “fall" back to normalcy. The writer first talks about what was expected to happen when Karazhan came out – which was to see Warrior lead the way even more. However, it looks like Warrior isn’t getting the boost some expected and is, instead, dropping a bit with Hunters doing much better. This story way published prior to the last Karazhan wing, so we’ll see if anything has changed after The Spire. Read the whole story with all the details on the expectations on and reality of Warrior here.

Popular Decks of the Week

As is the case every week, Hearthpwn put together a list of the most popular decks of the week, and you can check them all out here. There’s Trump’s Beast Druid, there’s – of course – a mid-range Dragon Paladin, a Hyena Hunter, and more. What are you playing now that Karazhan is over?

Pros Pick the Best and Worst Karazhan Cards

This article lists the 5 best and worst Karazhan cards according to the pro’s reviews (that we’ve often posted in our Videos section). According to the list, Purify gets the award for the worst card – to no one’s surprise – with Moroes, Pompous Thespian, Pantry Spider, and Silvermoon Portal following. On the opposite side of the list, Menagerie Warden is the strongest card of the bunch with Barnes, Medivh’s Valet, The Curator, and Kindly Grandmother following suit. What do you think? Do you agree with the rankings, or do you have a different opinion?

Five New Spire Decks

If you want to plug your new toys into some fun decks, check out this story that talks about five decks using The Spire cards. There’s Mryagut’s Thief Rogue, Nostam’s Aggro Rogue, Senfglas’ Malchezaar Control Warrior, Sjow’s Discard Zoolock, and Inderen’s Fatigue Warrior. All fun decks, and some aren’t too expensive either. Check them all out here.

Party Portals Was One of the Best Tavern Brawls in Some Time

Some of the Tavern Brawls we get are naturally more memorable than others, but the Party Portals one we got last week was definitely one of my favorites. The Brawl, which acted as a preamble to the Spire wing, was a Medivh against Medivh encounter where you go to play many Portal cards as well as some other fun cards like Romulo and Red Riding Hood. Spellcasting is usually entertaining, and having random minions pop out of Portals made the whole thing even more fun. Overall, I had a blast with Party Portals, and I have a hunch most of you did as well.

Is Yogg-Saron Really That Bad?

Last week, we talked about Yogg-Saron’s RNG and whether such a card has a place in Hearthstone, especially in competitive play. This story talks about how fun it is to have a card like Yogg-Saron on ladder and how much entertainment such cards add to the game. Yogg-Saron is a rather singular card because unlike other 10-mana cards, you never know if it’s going to help you or doom you when you play it. What do you think of Yogg-Saron? Hate it, love it, or simply don’t care much about it?
