Apparently this is the week for color-based shooters! Not long after we posted about Star Crew from Oh BiBi, our old constantly-making-games pals Foursaken Media took to our forums to announce their own color-based shooter called Color Bots. The concepts are definitely similar. In Color Bots, you’ll play as a bot stationed at the bottom of the screen as enemies approach from the top. Swiping in any of the cardinal directions changes your bot’s weapon color, and you can only shoot and kill enemies that are of the same color as your weapon. If you shoot an enemy with the wrong color, it’ll give them a slight speed increase, and if 3 enemies are able to make it to and breach your position it’s game over time. Here’s some screens.
It’s actually surprisingly common for seemingly unique game concepts to be in development by different studios at the same time, and in fact Foursaken even notes in the Color Bots forum thread that they announced this game ahead of when they had planned to specifically because we posted about Star Crew earlier today, and they didn’t want anyone thinking they had copied the idea. Not that anyone would think something about a standup developer like Foursaken, but better safe than sorry I guess. Anyway, Foursaken will be seeking beta testers for Color Bots in that forum thread so head on over and check it out!
