There have been a few arcade flying games announced and released for the iPhone, but none that I’d really classify as must-have’s.
The makers of Downhill Bowling [App Store] are taking their shot at the genre with this as-yet unannounced game:
The game involves two modes: Arcade and Race.
In Arcade, you basically try to shoot down as many enemy targets as you can to get the highest score. Ships spawn crates (yes, good old crates) which you can pick up and drop on a specific target for additional points.
In Race mode, there are 9 different courses where you have to fly through a series of hoops in sequence. We use the same mechanics (shoot stuff down, pick up and deliver crates) except that it gives you a time bonus.
The game is expected sometime in February.
looks sooo much better than the earlier version. shame it stole most of this one's thunder :(
That may or may not be the case. Light Riders is infinitely better than LightBikes with more to come in future updates.
I have played this game and see it as unplayable with the camera view. Light bike is much better.
anyone ever play Nort back in the day for Mac? if this is anything like Nort, I will definitely be buying
as of now, Light Bike is the more fun game. we'll see what the updates brings.
DO NOT GET IT. It's horrible. Also how Light Bike just came out with an update right after I got it. The update is really good. Just don't get this game Light Bike is better.
Hey Ryan, sorry you feel the game is horrible. If you could be a little more descriptive than just saying "horrible", maybe we can get some of your feedback and make the game experience better for you and everyone else.

It's not horrible sorry. It's just I hate the ariel view. The view Light Bike has is what I like. It's just a lot harder.
As a response to the dev who posted here, I think the camera view ruins the game. In light bike I can see the whole map, but in light rider, I can only see a small fraction of the map, when I come to a wall or the end of the map I really don't have time to plan what to do next, if it would zoom out a bit more I think you could make this game much better than light bike. Second of all, the radar screen only shows where the other players are and not the lines, if you added an option to show the lines it would be eaier to plan moves.
No apologies necessary Ryan, you seem to be a person who is passionate about your games, nothing wrong with that =)
That being said, we agree that the top down view is not as good as the 3D view for most people. To be honest we were going for more of a retro game feel but intended to do an update allowing for multiple view options, including 3D.
So hopefully you guys can enjoy the top down view for a little while, until we release the 3D view update... Which is not going to be too far away !!! You have my word !!!
M.W.: We agree completely about the radar map, we actually have an update thats going to be submitted mid next week that will allow you to have the trails on or off, depending on your preference.
About the zoom factor, i'll talk to my guys and see if this is something else we can add as an option as well.
