‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ Opens this Week and ‘Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic’ is Half Price and ‘Star Wars Pinball’ is Free to Celebrate

TouchArcade Rating:

There’s nothing better than getting into the spirit of the season, and by season of course I’m talking about new Star Wars movie season. Star Wars: The Last Jedi is hitting theaters this Friday (or rather Thursday night at midnight, if you’re doing it right) and based on what I’m hearing from those who were fortunate enough to see it ahead of release it’s the greatest thing since sliced bread. I’m incredibly excited to see it, and both Zen Studios and Aspyr Media are also excited it seems as they’re getting in on the fun by offering some deep discounts on their Star Wars mobile games. First up is BioWare’s absolute stone-cold classic RPG Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic ($9.99).

Originally released in 2003, Knights of the Old Republic (or KOTOR) holds up incredibly well even today. The iOS version has been around for several years, and due to the semi-turn-based combat in the game the experience translates really well to the touchscreen. It’s been on sale a ton in the past, but it hasn’t been this low since the May the 4th Be With You celebration earlier this year. There are hours upon hours of content in KOTOR so if you’ve yet to pick this one up on mobile the $5 sale price beckons you. If you need a gentle push, please refer to our original 2013 review or Shaun’s very in-depth RPGReload feature from early 2015.

Over on the Zen Studios side of things, they’ve dropped the price of their Star Wars Pinball (Free) app to celebrate the release of The Last Jedi. How far did they drop it? All the way down to free! The Star Wars Pinball app is sold piecemeal so the initial download will net you the Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back table for free with many, MANY additional tables available as in-app purchases. Still, you can’t sneeze at a free Star Wars pinball table that usually costs $1.99. Just try to sneeze at it, you can’t!

Like KOTOR, Star Wars Pinball has been around for a number of years but also hasn’t seen a sale since last May 4th. If you’re a Star Wars fan and especially if you’re gearing up to see The Last Jedi this week, either game is worthy of your time to get into the Star Wars spirit. Oh, and while I imagine just about everybody is doing their darndest to avoid spoilers for the new movie, let me just throw this out there: Chewbacca has been Darth Vader this whole time!
