When I first watched the trailer for the upcoming survival horror game White Night, I was impressed by the art direction and the way it brings to life a noir aesthetic. This black and white game takes place in the 1930s, which you could have guessed by the clothes and the fedora. You have to explore the macabre and mysterious past of an old mansion and solve puzzles based on lights and shadows. You’ll need to collect matches so you can light your way around the mansion and figure out what to do. As you can imagine, the game plays with things coming out of the shadows quite a bit, and there are some moments in the trailer that remind me of the classic Alone in the Dark.
The game was pretty well received on Steam, and the mobile version comes with revamped controls and a more appropriate saving system. White Night is being published by Playdigious (Mini Metro, Evoland) and will be coming to iOS and Android in the fall. In the meantime, you can pre-register here to get the game’s soundtrack for free.
