As we've talked about recently in our story about Shadow Fight 3, Nekki is releasing a premium edition of the popular Shadow Fight 2 [Free]. Shadow Fight 2 came out in 2014 and was very popular, getting over 200 million downloads. However, it was a free-to-play experience, so it did come with all those monetization shenanigans that many players don't exactly love. So, the developers are now bringing Shadow Fight 2 - Special Edition that doesn't have an energy system, which means you can play it anytime and for as long as you want without having to shell out any money. And, since this is a premium version, there are no ads in the game.

The premium edition also adds a new story chapter, which brings over 10 hours of gameplay, and plenty of enhancements such as better better rewards for your victories. I think this special edition is a good idea and should give players of the original good reasons to come back to the game. Shadow Fight 2 - Special Edition will release August 17th.

If only the premium version was released a couple years ago. Would have gladly paid $19.99 instead of $200+ on iap's.

Have never ceased wondering why ppl will balk at $2 or $20, but spend $$$ hundreds on iap.

        Different demographics, typically.

Hoping that Shadow Fight 3 will be premium. Will buy it in a second. Either way I had a blast playing part 2 despite the IAPs.

When released it will be premium. "the premium edition also adds a new story chapter"

      • Donny K76

That's referring to the premium edition for Shadow Fight 2, which has been out for quite a long time as a freemium title. Shadow Fight 3 releases in November.

      • boydstr

        yeah your right,my mistake.

      • boydstr

Overall people will spend money on IAP's but I doubt that the individual gamer spend a lot per game but it's true that a lot of gamers complain about this but there are some good exceptions but not that many.

  • boydstr

Smart move first release it FTP and after some time you release a "special edition" that is paid
so they can cash_in two times.

Actually... I wish more devs did this.

Its a good way to make people like me who uninstalled after 15 minutes to actually give the game a real play.

Ill get that day one for sure.

      • Raphael Alexander

        I couldn't agree more.

    • Raphael Alexander

All devs should do this, i can't play the crappy freemium. If your game is successful you reward people with an actual playable game.

  • Milotorou

Wonder how much this will cost... 2.99 or 4.99 is where my bets would be.

Ill buy that for sure, thought the gameplay was very interesting but in a fighting game a "stamina system" makes me lose all motivation.

  • Akantor

I played until I could barely get in a hit before getting slaughtered. I enjoyed what I could get through so I am all in on a premium version.

    • Raphael Alexander

Same, I played a lot until it got frustrating.

  • Raphael Alexander

It's the day, I guess they meant anytime today. My money is ready.

    • Milo

Same here, my money is ready too !

  • boydstr

The way the gaming business is today is worrying I played on consoles and mobile and when you look at PS store that they put micro transactions in full priced games! and I don't trust the publishers that they decide to cut parts out a game to sell them later as DLC and when they try this out and gamers don't complain this becomes the standard for example you play a game a shooter and instead of play to a certain point and find a better weapon you buy a better weapon and there should be people that saying that you don't have to buy it but it leaves a bad taste in my mouth and they ruin my overall gameplay experience.

    it's too late...
