Lanota [$1.99]  is a clever blend of a rhythm game and adventure story, and you can get it for free today in celebration of its first anniversary. Lanota has received quite a few awards these last couple of years, and for good reason. The game is all about an alternate reality where the world is lost in a colorless silence, and it can only be rescued through the use of the Notalium, an object that comes from the era prior to the events that covered the world in silence. The Notalium resembles a plate, and you use it to play the rhythm parts of the game.

As we pointed out in our review, the game is really pretty and is great for fans of rhythm games looking for something different than your usual derivative games. And it's free, so nothing should keep you from grabbing Lanota today.

Seems like most content is iap gated.

There are a few additional chapters as IAP but there are quite a few areas that are free that comprise the 'core game' and storyline. This is a similar pay system to Deemo, which is awesome, so no complaints here. Content isn't free after all and artists should be paid.

This is a fantastic game, just give it a try even if you don't want the extra content. I say that as someone who paid for the base game.

I hate to be that guy but I think the game has always been free to download; what they're running currently to celebrate the game's 1st anniversary is that the full version is half price (99 cents, basically free with or without discount).
It's been on my radar for a little while now but I just never got around to it.

Yeah you're right, base was free. Bought the expansions though, was kind of going to get to it after Deemo anyways.
