The classic rhythm-based puzzle game Lumines has been set to hit mobile in a two-headed configuration, and now we have word as when to expect the two versions of the game. First up will be Lumines: Puzzle & Music. This will be the paid version of the game, and will release in both Japanese and English versions in the third quarter of this year, according to Japanese gaming industry expert Dr. Serkan Toto, according to information released by developer Mobcast.
The second game, Lumines VS, will be free-to-play and will release in the fourth quarter of this year. The game seemingly uses a cuter graphics style and the name promises multiplayer gameplay. We’ll see how well this dual-release strategy works, but it could just satisfy everyone: both the audience with nostalgia for the PSP version of the game who would want the paid version, and the modern audience that could care about the game, but prefers free-to-play experiences.
