How to Find Games That Use 3D Touch on the New IPhone 6S

Potentially the most exciting feature of the iPhone 6S from a gaming perspective is the addition of the new 3D Touch feature. If you missed this during the keynote, the screen of the new iPhone is pressure sensitive. One demonstration they gave showing how this could work in games is allowing you to basically look down the scope of your rifle by pressing the screen a bit harder.

As of this writing, the only truly noteworthy game that uses 3D Touch is AG Drive ($2.99), and you press the screen a little bit harder to boost. (AG Drive is also a fantastic game we gave Game of the Week to, so, added bonus.) It sounds simple and basic, but having one more layer of flexibility to touch controls is going to be a very good thing for iOS gaming… Of course, developers are still going to need to support the hundreds of millions of non-3D Touch devices in the wild, but, still.

One thing that’s sort of shocking is just how few 3D Touch games there are right now. Bookmark this link on AppShopper to easily see which games have “3D Touch" added to their “What’s New" change notes. As of this writing, it’s AG Drive, a kids game, and a Cards Against Humanity knock-off.

But, hey, it’s day one! We’re going to be keeping our eyes peeled on that AppShopper search and hopefully other 3D Touch games will come along soon… But, for the time being, that’s the easiest way to find them as they appear on the App Store.
