I have some good news regarding Warhammer 40,000 Deathwatch: Tyranid Invasion, a game that I know many in the forums have been anxiously expecting. Well, the wait is over and the game is releasing this week. While yes, this is another Warhammer game, and we’ve seen plenty of them recently, this one’s coming from Rodeo Games, developers of Warhammer Quest and the Hunters games. Deathwatch is a turn-based strategy game that sets your Space Marines against the Tyranids in a variety of environments, ranging from cities to the insides of spaceships, over a 40 mission-long campaign. Rodeo Games went with Unreal Engine 4 for this title, and the visual improvement shows in the screenshots.
Two features really stand out to me in Deathwatch: the unique Space Marines and the multiplayer mode. In this game you can collect 40 unique Space Marines, collect plenty of loot, and customize your Space Marines with specialist skills and abilities. I like specialization in games because it really promotes replayability, provided the specializations vary enough in terms of gameplay. Even more fun is the ability to take those customized Space Marines online and battle it out with other teams in asynchronous multiplayer games. It’s been a while since I’ve had a good asynch game to play with friends, so maybe Rodeo Game’s Deathwatch will be it. The game is universal, and will be coming out this week.
