This past June, Square Enix released the latest entry in the critically-acclaimed Deus Ex series with the mobile-only title Deus Ex: The Fall [$6.99 / Free]. Set right after the events that took place in the novel 'Deus Ex: Icarus Effect', and leading right into the timeline of events in 2011's console release Deus Ex: Human Revolution, The Fall did an outstanding job capturing the atmosphere and intrigue of the recent Deus Ex games and fitting it into a mobile, touchscreen-friendly package.

While overall a bit short, Deus Ex: The Fall is a fun experience while it lasts, and thanks to branching dialogue paths and the ability to play either stealthily or guns blazing, there was plenty of reason to play through it multiple times, which has definitely extended the games shelf life on my device. Check out our review of The Fall for the full scoop.

Anyway, all this is just to tell you that Deus Ex: The Fall is currently on sale for $4.99, down from its normal price of $6.99. In addition, a lite version has just been released which will give you a taste of the game in order to help you determine if it's the sort of thing you want to throw down your monies for. In my opinion, it definitely is, as this is some of the most fun I've had with an FPS on the iOS platform.

Hopefully Squeenix and Eidos will get around to adding more content to the game in the near future, but if you skipped out on Deus Ex: The Fall before then definitely give the new lite version a try, and if you like it be sure to take advantage of the sale price for the full version.

It was well worth the money.

I'm so mad, I bought it like three days ago.
I mean, it's money I could have spent on 2K Drive... But I'm enjoying Deus Ex so far, big fan of Human Revolution.

I found their Final Fantasy IV is on 50% sale

Just downloaded for iPad 2 only to discover it doesn't work. App crashes out after the loading screen when hitting Play from the main menu. I'm pretty miffed about this.

    • nizy

It's been like that since I updated my iPad to iOS 7.

      • Elmo Rabisto

Crashes also on my iPad 2 w/ iOS 6

    • jeffyg3

Yeah same here...well actually my iPad Mini. Sucks, I really wanted to play this

  • ZarieoZ

I already have it but I'm afraid to play so it won't ruin the story before I actually finish the xbox version (since events follow xbox version). Should I or should I not?? I'm still early on in the xbox version and my xbox is dead & MS crappy customer service won't fix it :-/

    • Zendorphin

It's set after the novel but before the game. So you're fine to play it.

    • JRaynor

actually if i'm not wrong the plot in this game happen just after the intro of human revolution (the attack on sarif industries and jensen going to the hospital to get all the augmentation) with the fall IMO you just get to know a little more about those who you're facing on human revolution

BTW i'm the only one that likes more the icon of the lite version?

      • ZarieoZ

Thanks, yeah I'm past the intro. I'll play this till he xbox is fixed then. Oh & I kinda like the icon of the paid version more ;-)

  • detourne

Still not available in Korea. Squeenix, get yer act together!

  • zergslayer69

With all the people saying this game doesn't work, it works just fine on my ipad 4 on 7.0.3. So it works on something out there. Hope it will continue to work on the ipad air I'll be grabbing later today.

Yeah. But when do they finish the game? None of the reviews seemed to explain that this is more like Deus Ex: The Fall Episode 1, ending with a "More content coming... stay tuned. In the meantime, here's new game plus!" I'm afraid that's gonna break any kind of follow up anyway.

  • Allisonaxe

Yeah I really just want them to patch this so it can run on my iPad 2 without crashing.

  • daftman

I'm excited about the lite version because the app description says you need iPhone 4S and I just have a 4. Though I love this franchise, I didn't want to plop down $7 just to discover it won't run on my phone. Now I can find out for free :)

  • Zenfar

Cyberpunk dystopian goodness for $4.99 count me in

  • ZarieoZ

Thanks.. Happy to know that in free to okay it. I'll be starting with it soon :-)
