Even though Plague Inc. [$0.99] wasn't the first world destruction game, it certainly is the best, and with updates is only getting better. We just got word from the developers that the 1.7 update is on the horizon, and aside from some new achievements and other minor tweaks, players are going to have access to new and exciting disease scenarios to play through. 15 in total will be included in the update, with more coming in the future.

sovereign default

These scenarios are both based on real disease outbreaks like the Black Plague, Swine Flu, HIV, and more, as well as alternate universe scenarios which shift the world parameters around to totally change how you approach destroying humanity. The 1.7 update is scheduled to hit this November on iOS, with the Android release following soon after. Two of the new scenarios will be free, with the others available via individual 99Β’ IAP, or a single $2.99 "season pass" of sorts which also will include scenarios released in the future.

Very good game for only $0.99!
    Happy with all these updates!

Have you ever thought about creating a scenario where you actually play to beat the disease, as opposed to spreading it? Or would that change the game's fundamentals too much?

      • Lazer Kat

I think this would be too much for a scenario inside the game, but I'm sure a separate game that focused on the other, less evil and melancholy side, would do very well.

      • Ndemic Creations

Definitely on the ideas list πŸ˜‰

      • joaquin_ondamoon

Excellent! Great minds, and all that...

      • jForsythe

Yeah yeah glad I came up with it. πŸ˜‰

  • Adams Immersive

Sounds neat. It would be interesting to have a Global Warming scenario, set 20-50 years in the future. That would lend itself to gameplay in all kinds of ways:

Cold countries would lose some of their disease resistance

Moderate climates would require more heat resistance than normal

Mosquito lines would keep rising (this started years ago) bringing swarms of mosquitos to cities and previously safer elevations

Loss of wealth and research funding globally, and especially for coastal countries

    Increased wars, decreased international cooperation

Diseases spread more quickly at first over land and sea by refugees (from lost land, from wars, from lack of clean water, from newly impoverished regions, etc.)

Countering that: countries quicker to close their borders and shut down ports

General increase in population density (unrelated to warming, but expected since it's the future) and especially urban population; fewer rural countries

Various shifts in which countries are wealthier vs. poor

Sounds like good fun to me! πŸ™‚

    • Ndemic Creations

Hah yes this is one of the initial 15 (although not quite as widespread consequences - want to keep the impact self contained)

      • ZarieoZ

And this will be a major opportunity to have different maps and change in view. Global worming should result in some changes in the land, some islands would sink, some will decrease in size. Some lands would separate and maybe less green.. Adding maps instead of just viruses would be great, you just need to speculate a bit about the results of global warming πŸ˜‰

      • ZarieoZ

Oh... Looks like that in my scenario the world will end in worms... Lol sorry for auto correction, it's meant to be global warming πŸ˜‰

      • Adams Immersive

And of course part of game (or any app) design is deciding what NOT to toss in! Can't get too crazy...

    • iosgaminggamer

      Global warming isn't Real!!!

  • MrAsherkEsq

This game keeps on giving. Congrats to the devs.

    • Ndemic Creations

Thanks - I'm having fun making it all πŸ™‚

      • Lazer Kat

I absolutely love the two IAPs.
This is one game where I welcome more IAPs, so long as they don't get intrusive and the standard gameplay isn't affected by them.

  • James Batchelor

i got the android version, it's freeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

  • Dana Conrad

I'm so glad my son is too young to ask what I do when he goes to bed. "Oh, mommy enjoys destroying the world."

  • Sammy Jay

I Love this game. It is a great time killer and a great way to wake up the brain and get it in the thinking process. πŸ™‚ I can't wait for the new update πŸ™‚

  • Oscar

So you have to buy an ''season pass'' to get all the senarios D: sounds a bit like EA style πŸ™

    • sivad

Not even close to EA, and the season pass would get all future episodic updates. EA would charge 2.99 per scenario and then charge .99 to view them. Then when the timer runs out they would charge another 1.99 to continue where you last saved...

      • Lazer Kat

And they'd change the entire game to where you have to pay for everything you do with currency, that is rarely earned and expected to bought with real money.

I welcome additional content for IAPs, when done right.
I don't expect an app to continually give me additional content for free.
It's sad we consider an app abandoned, if devs don't give us more stuff for free.
Is an app ever just done? Imagine if we thought of a book, or movie as abandoned after it was released if the writer or director didn't give us more for free!

      • Lazer Kat

In have gotten more than my $1 worth from the original game, and more than my $4 worth from the two IAPs I've bought (Necroa and. Neurax). NDemic has to put a lot of hard work into adding additional content, and as long as they don't change the core gameplay and remove or lessen the functionality of what I've already purchased, then I fully expect and understand the need to pay for future content.

      • joaquin_ondamoon

I have never deleted this app since I downloaded it. Ndemic works hard on producing updates, all the more impressive because it's just 1 guy. Every update so far has been golden, and well worth the money and time spent waiting for the next update.

Dude, shut up and take my money.

  • TheRybka

This game has been proudly draining my battery for at least a year now...amazing value.

  • Lazer Kat

    Bet there's ads

    • Charlie

Yup, $0.99 to remove them πŸ˜›

  • ineptidude

Hmmm but will we be able to unlock these scenarios through gameplay like you can with the current IAPs?

    • Ndemic Creations

No - but there will be 2 free scenarios so you can try them and see if you want more

  • Carlos Santa

Would you release the whole game someday for free? Or give mew modes free?

    • sivad

(Slaps forehead) it's a pretty big leap for .99.... Might wanna shuffle some funds around to ensure you don't go hungry......... Help me please

    • Lazer Kat

No. And you shouldn't want it for free. There's a price you pay for free games and its more than $0.99. Spend the dollar.

    • QuoVadimus

In the immortal words of Joe from Reservoir Dogs, "Cough up the buck you cheap bastard!" πŸ™‚

  • Kane

I want an Alien disease make its way into the game. A rogue infection like that is terrifying.

    • joaquin_ondamoon

Yes, an 'Andromeda Strain' scenario! Satellite falls back to earth, begins infecting landing site with deadly disease that constantly mutates!

"Most of them died instantly. A few had time to go quietly nuts."

      • Kane

Yes, or maybe a dormant virus which somehow is switched on by Aliens. Which was initially spread on astronauts on the moon landing 60+ years ago. One small step for man.. one giant leap for mankind's survival? lol

  • the fish

Until now I got all stuff through gameplay so I don't mind paying for additional scenarios. This game is one of those I never deleted in my four years owning an iPhone. I bought it for my girlfriend too and she told me almost the whole hospital she works in is playing it. Kind of disturbing but it shows how good it is πŸ˜€
Totally looking forward to the update...consider it bought.

    • Lazer Kat

You can't get Necroa and neurax through gameplay, and they are well worth the $.

      • the fish

Ok...then I probably payed for it and didn't remember, sorry πŸ™‚

      • Lazer Kat

At least I don't think you can. Can someone confirm this?

      • Ndemic Creations

You can get Neurax and Necroa just by playing

  • LousyHero

I actually hadnt downloaded plague inc untill abou

    • LousyHero

So yeah. What I was going to say. I didnt download plague inc until like two weeks ago. I then promptly spent the next two days unlocking everything on brutal. I even skipped playing gta V to play it, I will throw money at them for more content. Easily one of my favorite ios games.

  • rewyan

I have no idea why everyone loves this game, it seems pointless to me. However, I just bought it and it's loading right now, so I'll give it a shot.

    • joaquin_ondamoon

See you in a month or two.

    • Lazer Kat

If by pointless you mean insanely addictive, brilliant. Well thought out, and endlessly entertaining...than yes, it is pointless.
Glad you decided to try it before making your final decision.

      • rewyan

Wow, I was wrong, this game is excellent. It's brilliantly thought out and I keep coming back.

        It's sick....... Haha, get it?

  • El OsO 187

I never knew that you could unlock those IAP viruses. I don't give a f*** this is the only iOS app I've ever bought an IAP and I will keep buying. Keep up the good work Ndemic πŸ™‚

  • Kevin Martin

You should have a space disease that comes in on a meteor, and we get to choose where it hits.

  • Rafaela Silva

How about a disease competition in game, you start in one place on the globe, and your competitor disease starts elsewhere, you can't see them until your disease happens to infect another host with the enemy disease, it would then trigger abilities to allow you to start fighting for control or demise of the hosts like a virus vs necroax battle.

  • Arandomplayerwhojustpopup

Hey, can I unlock scenarios just by playing because spending money
    is....well....pretty sucks!
