Here’s something I’ve heard a lot over the years: “They should make an Angry Birds game where you get to play as the PIGS!" Well guess what, that is indeed happening with the upcoming sequel Angry Birds Star Wars II. In the following trailer, which is quite humorous as Rovio’s trailers tend to be, Emperor Palpatine–err, I mean whatever the pig equivalent is to him–urges you to “Join the Pork Side" before unleashing a sinister laugh. Even cooler is that the Emperor in the trailer is voiced by Ian McDiarmid, the actual Emperor from the movies!
The bummer part is that Rovio doesn’t give up any hints as to what joining the Pork Side and playing as the Piggies actually entails. Do you fling them? Do you build a structure to protect them? We don’t know yet, but they are planning to slowly unveil the many characters in the game starting with a trailer on Monday, leading up to the game’s release on September 19th, so I’m sure we’ll be finding out much more soon. And, don’t forget about the TelePod toys that can interact with the game, which were detailed when Angry Birds Star Wars II was officially unveiled last month.
