Earlier this afternoon, Eli and I spent some time with Polara [$2.99]. It's an auto-runner with a welcome twist: color-shifting. While doing the standard platform shenanigans, you'll also be tasked with shifting the colors of the game's portagonist's suit back and forth from red to blue depending on the obstacles you stumble across. It's a cool mechanic in practice, as it adds a superb brain-twistery layer to the action.

Polara is a hit with our readers, and we're digging it, too. If you'd like to see it in motion before diving in, go ahead -- we've got your back. Just hit the play button on this thing below.

For a limited time, the game is on sale for 99¢, by the way.

I bought this game for 69p and I feel like I've robbed the devs. Buy it.

Just wanted to note there are 6 endless modes in the game, a replayable mechanic on the main storyline, and the levels get WAY more intense. We like to ease people into the challenge and mechanics so they are ready when the hammer comes down haha

Check it out everyone, so far people are loving it, and we hope you do too!

Thanks TouchAracde, we really appreciate the exposure, and it's awesome that you've listened to your community.Cheers everyone!

It's great to see a developer come in and back up and talk about his project; I was on the fence about another "endless runner but its an insta-buy for me now. Thanks TA!

Thanks for the gameplay vid! Would have liked to see you show some of the later levels and other modes of play..they make this game a must buy IMO 🙂

I have been having a blast with this game. Its very challenging and even after you complete the story mode there are plenty of endless modes to unlock which gives it a lot of replay value. Well worth getting!

  • LeeDot

Ikaruga is the name of the bullet hell shooter in question btw.

doh... nevermind, just got to the part of the video where you say that.

This is one of the best games I've bought on iOS this year.
If the vid features early levels, the game may look easy, but I promise you, this game offers some extremely good challenges and variation.

Level design in Polaro is out of this world, as is replay ability.

I Would have paid 3 times the money for this!

Really great game!  If anyone is on the fence instabuy this--you won't be sorry!  Truly addicting and just extremely clever level design.  I did a full review on my blog, this is truly an awesome game.  And I'm glad to see a Corona SDK game do so well as thats the engine I use as well.

I typically do not like this style of game, but Polara is absolutely fantastic and I love it. I have only played through the first 11 levels, but it has taken a while because I have achieved all the goals in each one and had a blast doing it. Within these levels is a good deal of variety and fantastic level design. The controls are both simple and extremely responsive.

Thanks to the TA folks for posting this video and giving this indie game the attention it deserves. Hopefully, a review will follow soon.
