You love game sales, I love game sales, everyone in the whole flippin' world loves game sales. This one is a doozie. A ton of indie developers got together to do a promotion called Because We May. What's the story behind all this? Well, per the Because We May site:

We believe that developers should have the freedom to price their games how they like, without interference from the online stores that sell the games. Why? Because it allows us to promote our games more freely, as we are doing here! We rely on the ability to promote our games for our livelihood and control over pricing is an important tool for this purpose.

Seems like a good enough reason for a sale to me. Normally in these types of posts, we'll include a few of the games that are on sale to highlight what you're in for… But this time there are just so many that you're much better off just mashing this link and going to town. It features previous TouchArcade game of the year winners such as Spider: The Secret of Bryce Manor [$1.99 / $1.99 (HD)] and Sword & Sworcery [$2.99 / $3.99] as well as runner-ups like Anomaly Warzone Earth [$1.99 / $3.99] and tons more.

So seriously…

Click this link!

…And just go to town. Every single game on this list is good, and they've even got little widgets indicating which ones have been nominated for awards as well as which have a Metacritic score of over 75. Awesome, right? Oh, and if you're interested in games for other platforms, the Because We May promotion has tons of those too.

What games from this promotion are your must-haves? Let us know in the comments!

  • Keith Murray

I think you should all get Carmen, a music visualizer. Cause I made it. Also, it's free right now. 🙂

  • ninjagore

The top buy of my day has been "beans quest" and is on sale right now! Absolutely amazing game, stunning retro graphics, intuitive controls and amazing Mexican/chip tune music! An absolutely great buy!

  • Hobbsicle

I always get sad during a sale like this. Because I don't have enough money to buy the whole lot.

  • stormchild

I've never even heard of 95% of these. The ones I do recognize, I already have. Pass.

    • Brian Hobbs

If you call "boring" a sale that includes Sword and Sworcery, World of Goo, Osmos, Waking Mars, Spider, Trainyard, Canabalt, EDGE, Anomaly Warzone Earth, Toki Tori, League of Evil, 1-Bit Ninja, iBlast Moki, Wooords, and several other real gems, then please let me know as soon as a worthy sale comes along.

      • stormchild

As I said, I already have the games I recognized in the list. I have Sword & Sworcery, Osmos, Edge (boring), Canabalt (overhyped and very boring). Couldn't care less about the rest of the ones you mentioned.

    • mdesilva00

This comment means nothing unless you own Sword and Sworcery.

      • stormchild

Of course I do. I bought that the day it came out, like any self respecting iOS gamer would.

      • Magdalene Felix

Been waiting for ages to get a price cut on Sworcery. I guess I have no self-respect, huh. Ah, sweet elitism.

  • Saulo Benigno

The best one on Steam its Dungeon Defender with multiplayer coop 🙁

  • Saulo Benigno

Interesting, the prices are the same for me.. did not change yet.

  • Matt F

Pastry Panic for me, its on sale

  • mguniverse

I have to recommend Exponential Invasion, but mostly because it's my game. 🙂

  • B34$T

Zaga 33 has the best sale of the lot.

    • Travis Ray

What's up with the Zaga33 and Glitch Tank developer taking the opposite approach to this sale and making his games cost more?  I bought and love Zaga33 and would have purchased Glitch Tank at on sale but not his kind of sale.

      • Gagapokerface

I agree with you, but it is kind of funny considering the roguelike nature of Zaga. It's like his sale scroll turned out to be a poison potion or something.

  • m101101

"world of goo" and "1-bit-ninja" i think 😀

  • Retronaut42

I own about 27 of the iOS games, but a lot of the 150+ others look fantastic.

  • Magdalene Felix

So how long is this promotion gonna last? I can't find a date anywhere.

    • Playfo

      Till June 1st

      • Magdalene Felix

        Thank you!

  • Charles Albert

yeah well thanks for bankrupting me devs.

    no, seriously, thanks!

  • Gagapokerface

I picked up Frederic - Resurrection of Music Complete HD. Had never heard of it, but it looks great from the App Store description. I love the art!

  • Gagapokerface

Also, I was really hoping to see Aquaria on the list. I missed the sale that went on a month or two ago.

  • Tondog

AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!! is a really good choice for this sale. I love the PC version and the iOS one might even be better thanks to the tilt controls.

  • James Kochalka

I had been planning on buying Glitch Tank... but instead of going on sale, for this promotion they INCREASED the price, from $1.99 to $6.99.  What the heck?

  • Ruudi9

According to AppShopper, quite a few of these games actually went up in price just prior to this 'sale'
Waking Mars being a prime example

    • Ruudi9

Super Lemonade Factory being another, went up in price 23rd May to then be 'discounted' when the sale started May 24th.

      • arglactable

And your point is...? I assume you realize that this bundle was publicized several days before the start date.

      • arglactable

Ahh. I see it now. I am up way too late.

      • Initials Video Games

Super Lemonade Factory was free in association with DailyAppDream from 21 May to 23 May. On 24 May it returned to its regular price of 1.99, only for BecauseWeMay to start on the 25th May, bringing it down to 99c.

  • arglactable

Not an iOS game, but Frayed Knights is fantastic.

  • walmartpolice

The glitch tank and zaga33 sale is genius.
Most 'mediocre' 99 cent games go free during sales only to be forgotten.
The price increase keeps you wondering and dying to buy when it's back to 99 cents.

  • Ricardo Carretero

Following some notes here, you all SHOULD buy Pro Zombie Soccer. iPad version is the best but the Android one it's pretty awesome as well. The reason? Because I did it :D. Also, because under it's soccer name it hides an amazing zombie action game which has nothing to do with your soccer skills.
