This might be a long shot, considering this event seems to be overrun by Android and other non-iPhone mobile devices, but I will be at Mobile World Congress all week this week in Barcelona, Spain. In addition, I will be on two panels of sorts this coming Thursday, one announcing the winners of the International Mobile Gaming Awards and a second "live pitching session". If you happen to be in Barcelona either for the event, or just because you happen to live in the area, I'd love to meet up with you if you've got something new, cool, and/or exciting to show off.

If you'd like to schedule a meeting, send an email off to and be sure to include "MWC 2011" somewhere in the subject so it properly gets filtered in my inbox. Keep in mind, I'm very much a typical American and really only speak fluent English. If you don't (wait, how are you reading this?) I'm still totally willing to meet up, but communication might be difficult.

For everyone else not at the event, I'm really not sure what to expect. I've been told this is the "CES of mobile phones". I sort of thought CES was the CES of mobile phones, but you never know. If I see anything neat on the show floor that pertains to iOS on any level, you can look forward to finding out about it on TouchArcade. The show hasn't even started yet and I've already seen some flat out insane Tegra 2 tech demos, and I seriously can't wait to see what is coming in the next round of Apple hardware if it's anything like that.

Here's Galaxy on Fire 2 running on the Tegra 2 chipset:

That's just crazy for a mobile device.

Can you try to get a hands on with any of the PlayStation Suite devices and try Dungeon Defenders: Second Wave, and see what's different between it and First Wave? 🙂

So will Iphone 5 have tegra 2 or Orion?

  • gee

    wow, it has nice graphics

  • Ron Goodrich

How about updating this with an equivalent vid on iphone 4 for easy comparison.

Am I missing something here? It runs at a nice smooth frame rate, but I'm really not seeing anything here that the iPhone can't already do. It looks to be using the same type of late-gen shaders, and the geometry doesn't look any more complex. What am I missing?

i think its all about the framerate and sprite particle does look more details.cmiiw

Not a really compelling tech demo. It does look better than the current iOS version, with bump mapping and some nice specular shading, that's not saying much though. While a super fun game, GoF2 doesn't take advantage of OpenGL ES 2's features anywhere near the degree of say Infinity Blade.

Guess we have to start getting used to games on Android looking better than on IOS it was bound to happen. What annoys me more though is them having better batterylife.

    • Evilsearch

o yeah?show me one game that looks better on android than on iOS device?

  • Wisedude

Galaxy on Fire 2 as per the article

  • Collins Benjy

Good luck. Amazing vid by the way!

  • Zandog

Apple or Google, it doesn't matter. Nvidia has mobile graphics by the balls.

  • E_Domina

Have you guys been able to check out the xperia play or playstation suite yet?

  • xStatiCa

I just wonder what the battery life will be with graphics like that. Battery life is the most important part to a mobile device.

"That's just crazy for a mobile device."

then you've never seen carmacks stuff or unreal engine based games, low poly models are pretty unspectacular nowdays.
