An update recently propagated across the App Store for the classic jumping game Doodle Jump [99¢] in honor of the upcoming holiday of Halloween. If you're looking for something to get you in the spirit of Halloween, this new update should do the trick. The Doodler has undergone the terrible transformation to the Frankendoodler, and all of the monsters now are Halloween themed.

Something to be aware of is that this update is a bit of a double edged sword. While the new theme is pretty cool, to stay under the 20MB over the air download limit, Lima Sky nuked last year's Halloween theme. This one seems to be tons better, but if you're partial to the previous ghost theme you might want to back up your Doodle Jump.ipa somewhere to revert back or just flat out skip this update.

Who cares about 20MB limits. Removing features is just stupid and last years theme was better than this.

    • Igor

we'll be bringing back the last year's theme.

Yes, I like the ghost theme better. Also, any chance you guys could like revamp your app icon? Maybe have a contest for some user generated app icon concept art?

People trying to run a business and turn a profit care about 20MB limits, I don't know why to is so hard for people to understand this simple concept.

Sales will decrease if devs miss out on the impulse buy factor. Lima Sky I think has still done a great job giving huge bang for your buck, so thanks for a job well done Lima Sky.

No offence Igor, but last years Halloween wasn't too hot, I mean you couldn't see anything and it was hard to tell if it was a real pad or a fake one. Nice move to keep it under 20 megs.

Yawn, another boring Doodle Jump skin. I realize you guys had to report this at risk of looking out of place, but seriously - Lima Sky is a one-trick-pony, and this game has had more than enough attention. There are a ton of new cool games coming out all the time - why not feature them instead?

This game is obviously still very popular, as it has been in the top 25 of the app store for so long. Just because it doesn't appeal to you doesn't mean that it doesn't appeal to other people.

You say Lima Sky is a one trick pony? Look at Rovio Mobile. They just have Angry Birds, yet they are all over the news. Don't get me wrong, I love Angry Birds, but it gets coverage of updates because it is popular.

Popular games will get coverage on their updates because it appeals to a wide variety of people. Get over it. Besides, Lima Sky has been working on awesome-looking multiplayer mode for Doodle Jump which should come out sooner than later.

Angry Birds' updates also contain substance - a ton of tooled and well thought-out levels, new characters with different abilities... not just some re-skinned graphics.

I'm sure there's an original iFart app still in the top 50 that people keep downloading - doesn't mean it deserves front-page news every time they release a new wet one.

Doodle Jump had its day in the sun and lucked out for being early in the App Store and polishing the idea they took from Papi Jump. If it were released today, you'd never even hear about it.

Oh, please its not like PapiJump invented this genre, they just brought it to the iPhone. Good job Doodle Jump by keeping the success going.
