If you've been looking for an online pool game, here's your chance. Namco's Pool Pro Online 3 for iPhone and iPad are now free for a day.

This represents the 3rd in the franchise which originally began on mobile phones but is now extending to smartphones and even the desktop. The game allows both single player and online play in 8-ball, 9-ball and Snooker. Players can also make in-game wagers against their opponents and use winnings to upgrade table felts, cue sticks and new pool halls. The 3d game allows you to rotate your view and pinch/zoom to line up your shot.

The games are free for Wednesday only (normally $4.99). Pool Pro Online 3 represents the launch title for Namco's UniteSDK which provides achievements, leaderboards and cross-platform online play.

Nice, I was waiting for a price drop on this, but free is even better.

WOW, I am SO GLAD I did not buy this game! It is absolutely TERRRIBLE!

Frame rate is awful, physics are bad, and the controls are crap. Trying to hit the ball is just a useless exercise in annoyance.

I highly recommend Virtual Pool for the iPad for those wanting an iPad billiards fix, it's far from perfect (I was hoping this one would be better) but it is significantly better and more fun than this drek.

The ball physics in this are all over the place- try putting english on the ball and it spins far too strongly and the balls take ages to stop which doesn't help. Stick with VPO or Pool Star. No point in online or good graphics if a Pool game doesn't have realistic physics.

Well if you have a jailbroken iPhone you can use FWChanger from Cydia. Thats what I use.

I have 3.1.2 but can run any 3.1.3 games I want. It only makes a small change to a plist file so is safe to use.

Wow, from the sound of it most TouchArcade users have jailbroken devices. Can you run a poll on this topic TA? I'm very curious now.

I jail broke my phone for one app, MyWi. If AT&T would let me tether my notebook and netbook without charging me even more than I already pay I would have never jail broken my phone. I already pay for DSL at home and data plan for my phone when I am away. I don't want to add another data plan for the notebook on top of that.

...but to keep this relevant, no Pool Pro Online 3 for me.
