I'm still kind of stunned it's already Friday, after GDC madness last week and playing catch up this week I'm not even sure where all the time went. Regardless, we missed our sales and freebies post this week, so I've dug up an extra helping of freebies in attempt to make amends this week. As always, the standard iTunes price change disclaimer is in effect. These prices are all current as of Friday afternoon, but due to the nature of the App Store are subject to change at any time. If you've got your eye on one or more of these games, you're probably better off grabbing them ASAP.

Earth Vs Moon, 99¢ → FREE

Quite possibly one of the best missile command spinoffs on the App Store, we loved Earth Vs Moon in our review, and since then it has only gotten better with updates. This one has been free for a few days now, and likely will return to normal price any time now, so grab it while you still can... And if you miss the free promotion, it's still totally worth a buck if you haven't heard of it before.

Other notable freebies include:

As far as game sales are concerned, a few Gameloft games were recently dropped to 99¢. I've had a good time playing through all of these, so if you don't own them yet, I can think of worse ways to spend $5:

And of course, there are a ton of other games with recent price drops:

There are many other games with recent price changes, and you can see a listing of popular games and all games on sale over on AppShopper. Stay tuned for more freebies and sales next week, same bat time, same bat channel.

Battle for Wesnoth is a very good deal. With over 300 hours of gameplay and a dedicated developer, this game will last longer than your iPhone.

    • MrMuesli

Unfortunately it is riddled with interface problems...an absolut chore to play.

      • Gates

Really? The buttons work for me. Wesnoth has always been a chore to play because you have so many units to control.

      • gabbajoe

Seconded, seconded, a thousand times seconded. Also, the way the game calculates hit percentages is (IMHO) maddeningly inaccurate. For your units, it averages about 20%->30% under what it's rated, especially if enemies are on tough terrain like mountains. I once counted 4 0% hits against 60% chances in a row -- I have no idea what the mathematical odds are of that but I bet they're low.

Yeah, it's called luck, never known luck to be accurate. Also worth mentionning is the new bigger interface coming up in the next patch.

I'm buying Skater Nation and Earthworm Jim. I grew up playing Earthworm Jim when it came out. I might buy the Soccer one, but not too interested in many others.

    • highlyrefinedpirate

be careful: I bought earthworm jim because of the sale and have been able to play it once, now it won't load anymore.

don't let it stop you from downloading it when it's $1, just don't get to disappointed if it doesn't work.

(I'm hoping it will start working for me).

  • Josh

I saw Guerrilla Bob is on sale too, for only 0.99$ I really enjoyed that one and I'd definitely recommend it for this low price.

Why did you cover the Alien Glyphs price-drop? Even as someone who just casually uses the New/Price drop feature, it's pretty easy to figure out they are constantly spamming it. It probably has at least 5 different price points in a month, ranging from free to $10.

Surprised noone has mentioned Thumpies yet. I may break down and pick that up finally. Good reviews. I know it jumps on and off of sale alot but now its on and probably the best in the $.99 bin.

Having said that, unmentioned is Tilt to Live at $.99. Why was that overlooked? I grabbed it last night and I really like it. I hope Thumpies treats me as well.

Be really careful with Blades of Fury. I have a 3rd gn iPod touch running the latest OS version and that game only ran once out the tons of times I tried to play it (tried resetting the iPod, restorig the game, etc.). This seems to be a pretty common problem according to the comments on iTunes as well.

    • Pholly

Same for Earthworm Jim, that' the only reason I didn't buy it. It seems like they would fix these games or take them off of iTunes.

      • Ender

Agreed. I could never even get EJ Free to run once.
