New buyers be prepared for a crash on event 6 in Tokyo! I got passed it once by switching my car. Strangely that's the only time I got to play it lol
Tempted buy but around how many hours of gameplay (in career mode) does it offer?
Depending on your skill id say 3 hours to unlock all the tracks. And 5-6 hours to fully finish the game (achievements, stars, unlock all cars)
i just bought the game, its sick....
i like this one a lot more than real racing
Is there any way, to drive the car by yourself, or it's yes or yes riels-on?
With all the help disabled, is there possible to really drive the car?
It's "on rails"
Yes, you can really drive the car and even shift gears.
Yup "on rails" can be disabled so you drive fully on your own.
No, I is permanently on rails. You can turn off assistance, but you can't actually steer your car where you'd like-- your car goes automatically, and you get to adjust maybe +- 30 degrees off-center.
It's a fun game, but there is little actual "driving" involved.
got it as soon as I sent the comment, but didn't want to write something like "oops I meant on rails", any useful answer?
thank you very much Eli and random guy =)
don't know why, but i've always been bored to tears by any game even remotely associated with any kind of sports. one of the few genres (sports games) where no amount of eye candy will do it for me.
Good to know.
Yes, it is on rails, and yes, very boring without the gas pedal. Does not feel like your driving because of that. The customization and good music does not make up for it, and the graphics are not as good as Real Racing.
The graphics are definitely as good if not better then Real Racing.
Also, the price drop does not make up for the lack of gas pedal. There are too many people that will not buy or play this game because of the on rails feel. So, instead of lowering the price, they should just add the gas pedal, this way, people will actually buy it and want to play it.
What rails are you even talking about? You are aware you can turn off the steering assists and racing lines in the options right?
When they say "on rails" it means it's auto accelerate! That's why I said it was on rails...
You don't have fully autonomous control of your car. The car travels automatically through the course and you offset the path +- 30 degrees.
The driving is more of a tilting mini-game than anything else, just disguised to look like racing. Some of us love to drive, race even, and would like there to be a little more to the driving engine.
SO, this is is a hybid racer really as far as I can tell. No gas pedal, but gears instead if you want a bit more realism. I'm happy with that. I can't imagine shifting AND manually accelerating along with nitroing and drifting and so on. It would require a real clever d**k to fiddle around with all that on such a tiny device; )
I'll be the first to purchase this is 1-2months when this game hits 4.99
I'm surprised you're not willing to wait until the price drops to $0.99. Come on man, us cheapos gotta stick to our dollar a game principle. . ;)
I'm a bit angry that they lowered the price within a week from release, since I paid $9.99 two days after it came out.
However the game is pretty good, and the graphics among the best out there.
To the people complaining about the lack of gas pedal - have you played the game??
In SHIFT, you constantly need to use the brakes in order to stay on the road, you can't just go full throttle. The way you would drive, even with a gas pedal, would be to go full throttle on the straights and brake for the corners - so the brake on touch is the best solution. That way you don't have to keep your finger glued to the screen most of the time to keep the "pedal to the metal" but you only need to use the brake.
I really don't think it would add much to have a gas pedal, since most people floor it all the time anyway.
And with this game they made so you can go from almost "auto pilot" to complete manual control (except for the gas) - what more do you want? - maybe a clutch as well to make really REAL (most cars here in EU don't have automatic transmission)?? I don't think that would work well on a touch screen ;)
But I guess they could have added it just to silence the whiners ...
As for the "on rails thing" it has nothing to do with the gas pedal, it means you can't turn around and drive the wrong way - you can only go forward on the track (I don't know why you would want to be able to drive the other way?) and since this is RACING, not street racing, there are no shortcut - only one route to take.
Most street race fan would like the gas pedal...because you can decelerate around light corners and only use the brakes around hard corners...and if shift was to simulate racing...then it fail totally...because you dun just hit the metal all the way on the track...decelerate is one of the driving experience to simulate.
They should have put in gear shifting like daytona and you shift the gears to drift...that would be awesome! because you cant do shifting on dpads...but you could do shifting on a multi touch...you can go from gear 3 to 1 and back to 2 and 3...4...I can already picture die-hard racing fans drooling...
And if you haven't yet played a racing game on the platform, "Real Racing" is a great starting point. :D
but mostly, I think we should focus on the fact that the price dropped by 30% within one week of release.
that's what belsunce thinks
In the context of a broad array of EA holiday sales...
no. I don't accept that. this game JUST came out.
It is really bothersome when big guys like EA will drop price on a new release game like that. What kind of pricing model is that? No one will ever buy a new release game and everyone will wait for rock-bottom 99 cents deal.
I think people needs to know its a track race...so if you like street race like all nfs...you probably want to skip this...its quite boring with no on coming cars...no cop chases...I wouldn't say the graphic is impressive as alot of other elements were removed...they should have just remake carbon for iphone and it will still be a hit...
Its a miss for me.
I think EA is alternating between sim NFS and Arcade NFS every other year because the console versions have different developers to make the games quicker.
Ok i'm buying this title after hearing so many good things about it. I think by next month Gameloft as a Gran Turismo clone (with over 100 cars included!) that I'll probably need to buy too :-O
The reason why DOOM Resurrection was such an epic fail in the app store is because of the lack of control for the player...the dreaded on rails feel. Everyone got their hopes up and got pissed when they paid for a mini movie w/ a shoot button. The devs should have learned a lesson from that example. The platform is capable of so much more, and Real Racing proved it. Fans everywhere are pissed because they waited months for this game because it had customization (something Real Racing didn't have), but they ended up paying money for a tilt 2 win game just like the first NFS for iphone. Racing fans did not deserve that kind of disappointment with all the useless hype that was built behind the game. EA will make so much damn money with an update that includes a gas pedal because the 'no gas pedal whiners' are unfortunately for them a majority! I think they may do it. And by the way when most folks refer to 'on rails' in a racer, they are referring to lack of manual acceleration.
the author of this vid has thumbs like a woman....so small lool .....looks like my little finger. mhahahaaa so, he has a little advantage
Stop saying "rails", you monotonous parrots.
Nfs shit is just a plain fail. It s a reskin of nfs undercover, there s no physic at all, you don t drive you just stay on the road like "mega race" on 3do,for a sim racer that s quite a problem. Price drop is welcome considering the early fools enjoyed being double sc**ed..
Wheres online multiplayer please? Asphalt 5 has it and its a blast!
