cabby 2The latest freebie from AppventCalendar is a game that we reviewed just a couple of weeks ago. Cabby is a side-scrolling transport game that has been compared to Space Taxi.

We quite enjoyed the game, though had some issues with the size/placement of the on screen buttons. This is said to be addressed in a future update.

In the meanwhile, the game is certainly worth a download.

Great game, with good graphics. The controls need getting used to.

I like how the woman exits the cab underwater without any breathing apparatus.

I prefer Saucelifter or Blimp, both are more fun have better controls and personality in their graphics.

I deleted this game within 2minutes of playing
and the only reason I got the game was that it was free last week

I have to say, I always download free games whenever I see them listed as free here, but just watching the embedded video was enough to make me realize that with over 20 games I've barely touched on my iPod (see what I did there?), there is no way in HELL I'd ever play this.

      pass.

Seems to me you need to play those 20 odd games you have already downloaded instead of wasting time leaving comment here about how you're not going to download a pretty good game the dev was so generous to make available free to everyone.

Had a quick shot, seems a great game! I wish there was a side scrolling space trading game with one insanely big level now after playing this - with rpg stats for pilot and ship. That would take it to the next level.

Should remain free until he fixes the controls...

What's wrong with the controls? I played the free version and they seemed to work as advertised.

It just goes to show you: if you really want to get a critical response to your game, give it away.

Personally, I have loved the AppVent calendar and am thankful for all of the developers who participated. It's like a MacHeist event, and I love it, even if not all of the games are games I'd be interested in (like yesterday's, for example).

This one, however, is a great modern take on an old classic. True, the controls needed a little adjustment, but the sounds and style are so much like the original I get all nostalgic playing it. This is the second game to show up on my list of games to buy (along with Blimp). I already had 33rd Division, Samurai, and iBlast Moki all of which I would happily have bought again. Above all, however, I love presents and encourage other developers to take advantage of the free publicity, as well as the free criticism, and thank everyone involved for giving me something to look forward to first thing every morning (after my cup of coffee, of course).

The controls while at first my be a bit awkward work really nicely and alow you to have pretty fine control over the cab. The only problem I had was ocasionaly it not picking up a tap left.

I've been enjoying this game since picking it up earlier today. A control update would be nice, though not so uncombersome as-is that I'd dock more than a half-star from my rating. Currently, I'd consider it a 3.5 (out of five) star game, with a good control update that could rise to 4.

The game reminds me of blimp but with a bit of less polish. Good luck to the dev though.

This game is amazing. I love the art and the game play. I'd say that this is the kind of game you can't really tell whether you're going to like it or not based on reviews and/or screenshots alone. Try it!
