436013Touch Foo recently released a free Lite version of their iPhone platformer Soosiz. We loved the game in our review, declared it the best iPhone platformer and gave it 5/5 stars in our monthly roundup of the best October iPhone games.

The big twist to the game is its gravity-changing mechanic. When jumping to a platform above you, the entire world spins around and up becomes down. While this all seems like it might just be a novel gimmick, Touch Foo manages to utilize it fully across Soosiz's 7 worlds and 65 levels. The gravity experience is truly an integral part of the game, and not simply a tacked on afterthought. Triggering this gravity manipulation simply requires you to jump onto another platform, and becomes second nature very quickly.

The full version contains 65 levels with progressively more difficult and interesting levels. The Lite version only gives you the first 5 levels, so while you'll get a good taste of the controls, the levels remain very straightforward. Still, the Lite is a "must try" if you managed to miss the game before.

I wish this would have come out sooner, I wasted $2 bucks on Soosiz.

      Why so?

I just didn't like the game. Too boring IMHO.

I have soosiz for a while and I love it, definitely the best platformer on iPhone. The characters are cute and the gameplay is pretty original. This game is not meant for hardcore gamers, but for casual player like me it totally worth $2.99 anyday.

I can't believe lovers of the platformer genre wouldn't go nuts over this game. How much have you guys played this? It starts off very basic and simple but by the time you get to the first boss and afterwards, it's a suprisingly deep and challenging title. The only problem for the lite version is that it won't show people how hard this game gets later on.

If you're after a 'mario' for the iPhone, this is it.

I love platformers, but I really don't like this game. It is just boring and repetitive. I could never get into it, wasted $2

Looks like a 2d mario galaxy type game, might check it out later as it looks unique.

It's a sweet little game, but FAR from a masterpiece a la Mario...
To me definately no masterpiece but an entertaining and - later on - very challenging thing.

I'm still bitter over the first bonus level in world 7. Has anybody gotten a gold on that thing?

    • MartiNZ

Yes, after heaps of attempts. Thankfully after the first two sections it is not nearly as hard. Just wait for one of those odd occasions where the platforms with spinning spikes and the need to repeatedly jump between circular platforms don't finish you off!

Oh, and the new bonus level they added for 65 golds is worse - thankfully not involving rolling on a ball, but still worse. 150 coins to get and my best effort so far is 27 before dying.

I cannot BELIEVE noone has called this game out as a TOTAL gomi ripoff. And everyone is promoting it as being totally unique and original. What a joke.
I feel sorry for anyone who releases a truly original app because you know that a thousand plagiarising nobodys are going to steal that idea and call it their own.
Pathetic, and shame on toucharcade for promoting and condoning it.

    • DannyV

Yeah, except for the fact that Gomi looks ugly as heck and this actually looks nice. If I was some random guy and had a choice between a game like Gomi with ugly art direction and a game like this, I'd pick this game every time.

      • Chris

Gomi may not look as good, granted. But the core gameplay is pretty much exactly the same as gomi. If you kidnap a kid and put a different shirt on it it still doesn't make it yours...

These are two COMPLETELY different games!
Just the gravity thing is equal! But the gameplay alone is highly different.

    • http://www.squarezerostudio.com squarezero

your personal robot is right. Gomi and Soosiz have very little to do with each other besides a particular gameplay mechanic. By your logic, Chris, any platformer that travelled along a horizontal plane would be a rip off of Mario. And for the record, I happen to like Gomi quite a bit.

It felt a bit slow, would have been better if you moved faster. Not buying.

I'm not sure what's so unique bout this game as mentioned by TouchArcade. I've tried this game, and it is pretty boring to be honest. It's over-rated..

    $2.99? I'll say no!

The first 10 levels are fun then it gets too repetitive.

Seemed overrated to me too. I'd much rather have a fast-paced straightforward platformer than a slower one w/ gravity.
Not quite gimmicky, but definitely got in the way of the gameplay for me.

Glad I tried it first, because it wasn't for me.

Great game. I'm on World 5, and I've really enjoyed it so far.

Copy or not, it's a fun game.

If you don't think it's challenging, you clearly just haven't made it very far.

I'm stuck on the 7th world... should finish it in a few weeks but omg, this game is not easy. (I've put over 10 hours in it according to the stats screen... I typically put 20-30 hours into a $50 game for the GameCube or Wii so at $3, this is an amazing bang for you buck deal.)
