Ngmoco's 'Eliminate' Game will be FREE

posted by arn on October 15th, 2009 8:01 PM EDT in News, iPhone games, iPod touch games

ELIMINATElogo_v5_highres_transNgmoco has announced that their much anticipated first person shooter Eliminate will be free in light of Apple's announcement that free apps can now offer in-app purchases.

More details are said to be following, but Ngmoco has long announced that Eliminate would carry in-app purchases for energy that allows players to earn additional credits. Every player gets a certain auto-renewable source of energy, but once depleted, to earn more credits the player must either 1) wait a certain amount of time for your energy to recharge or 2) purchase more energy. If you don't care about credits, you may also continue to play but simply be ineligible to earn credits during those games. Credits are used for equipment upgrades and leveling up. We had a hands on with the game earlier this month which explains the system in detail and also gives impressions of the gameplay.

Based on comments by Ngmoco about the "aggressive" pricing of Eliminate, we long suspected that Ngmoco planned on making the bulk of its income in these in-app purchases. The move to a completely free game would expose Eliminate to a much larger audience of potential customers and also remove the issue of having a large enough user base to support an online multiplayer game.

Eliminate has been submitted and is awaiting approval from Apple.

    Epic. Enough Said

    • OMG I WAS GOING TO SAY THE SAME THING :) , It's almost got Halo 1 graphics on PC!

    • Wozniak says:

I can't belive some of these solid state price point people saying "I'd rather pay ten dollars for a full app then in app purchase".

Eliminate let's you set your own price if you wanna pay ten bucks download the free app and spend ten bucks within the app.

  • beetle004 says:

    wtf??? am i dreaming??

    • mike says:

no, its just you stopped listening to the Apple haters for 3 seconds and realized that the iPhone is more powerful than the Nintendo64, and thus, can easily handle FPS.

  • Outkast1 says:

    HOLY CRAP!

  • Outkast1 says:

Sorry to double post but I remember people saying back in August that they couldn't purchase so and so because they were saving their last $ for Eliminate!

  • ktfright says:

i would pay $10 for something like this!!!! ngmoco rules!!!!

  • Joe says:

Sounds dumb I'd rather pay for a game outright not be nickel n domed to death just to play it,sure you still "can play"without buying more energy but I'd bet enegry runs out fast and you need to gain levels to unlock things like
Better guns and armor or whatever so unless you buy you'll be likely getting owned.

  • AaronAMV says:

Sounds like BS to me… If you don't buy add-ons, then you're gonna get owned, plain and simple.

  • mek says:

i'll try it at least now that it is free, but i do not like to be nickel and dimed as well…so i figure unless i love the game, i will probably stop playing it for good once my energy runs out…

    • arn says:

      1) you can still play it if your energy runs out or 2) wait 1.5 hours (or whatever the predefined time is) until your energy recharges.

      arn

      • Fleabag323 says:

Pretty sure the most recent time is 90 minutes. 5, 3 minute matches every 90 minutes for free. (Getting credits)

      • mek says:

yeah, i remember reading that on your earlier post, i just don't see the point of playing for 15 minutes or an hour, then waiting 8 hours to play again, i may keep it on to play maybe once a week

the only way that i would possibly consider paying for DLC is if the DLC extends for my account {i.e not just one time} the length of my energy…that to me would be like actually paying for the game, just in an indirect way…
but i will in no way pay for a one time energy source to extend my play..that is just foolish

      • arn says:

did you miss the part about "you can still play" if you don't have energy?

      • Adams Immersive says:

It doesn't sound like the energy extends your play, but rather extends your ability to earn new powerups of some king. Assuming you can keep on playing with your existing powerups anyway (I hope they don't go away) that sounds pretty reasonable.

So, if I'm guessing correctly, you play and you earn powerups that help you. If you PAY, you can earn them faster. If you don't, you can still earn them… but it will take time. In the meantime, it will match you with similarly-performing players, so you can have fun at all times, even before you earn more powerups.

      • Adams Immersive says:

(And by king, naturally, I meant KIND.)

  • Adams Immersive says:

The game-balancing/matching system sounds interesting. I'll believe it works well when I see it. Which I look forward to doing!

And I'll gladly pay a few bucks, not just for upgrades, but for a game that looks great so far!

The only thing I'd really object to is if you LOSE your level-ups/equipment if you don't keep paying (subscription-style). Subscriptions are fair enough if that's how a dev wants to be compensated, but it would give me pause. Luckily, that doesn't seem to be the case with Eliminate anyway!

I'm sure they'll tweak the system as it goes. It's never been done before quie like this, and I think it's worth the experiment… especially at this price :)

  • VideoGuyMan7 says:

well that made my day and i was having a somewhat bad day.

    ngmoco is awesome!!!!!!

  • Rob says:

That does not sound appealing. I like paying one time charges for full versions of games. Was kinda looking forward to Eliminate, but for me this is a big turnoff.

    • arn says:

the game is exactly the same as you were "looking forward" to, except instead of $0.99-$9.99 for the game + in app purchases, it's Free + in app purchases. While you may or may not like in-app purchases, if you were looking forward to the game before, this is the same game, but Free.

There's really no bad news in this story for the end user. There may be legitimate concerns about in-app purchasing, but those concerns existed before the game was Free.

    • Narcosloth says:

I completely agree I want a solid ten dollar game with no in app purchesses

      • Jason says:

You've gotta love the app store. Price an awesome game $9.99 and people complain it is too expensive. Give an awesome game away for free and people will still complain.

  • araczynski says:

this reminds me of all those stupid games like kingdoms live and the million of copy/pastes with different pixel sheets. where you can do a handful of actions per hour or two, unless of course you want to buy a few more actions.

  • Probum says:

Well free is the best word in the English dictionary; yet I'm skeptical of making this a "pay as you go/pwnage" system. In other words, if you're a cheap gamer like me, you'll not last long.

Oh well, I'll still get suckered in like everyone else and spend too much money on it.

  • EatKodosDaily says:

The article suggests that by being free, the game will have a large online player pool.

While that may be true, the game also divides people up based on skill level. I forsee a huge base of skillless people who will only play once, and only a few players that are any good. Most of those good players will have a difficult time finding matches, and so will stop playing.

It seems like the game will fail to return a very good profit.

But then, I've been completely wrong many times. This is what I thought out over 2 minutes, while I'm sure a team of people debated how to make the game most profitable for several hours (or days?) and they concluded this was best. I'll be interested to see how successful this game actually is.

  • Somerandomdude says:

HOLYCRAPHOLYCRAPHOLYCRAP!!!!!!! I was ready to pay about $7 for this and it's going to be free!!!!!! Now I'm dying to get it even more!

  • 5j3553 says:

    am i dreaming???!

  • Robert M. says:

I'm not sure how i feel about this. If you run out of energy you have to wait to play again?

    • Somerandomdude says:

No, you can still play, but you just won't recieve any credits. So by playing while having no energy, you're playing for fun and recieve no experience or weapons for playing.

  • Parker says:

Freaking yes, I can't wait for this! Hoping it's gonna be released sometime this weekend…

And for you guys who keep asking about the energy system, do you not freaking read? You can either wait 90 minutes to play and earn credits, or KEEP PLAYING and not earn credits. You can still play either way, but if you have no energy you won't be able to level up.

  • spiffyone says:

I'll wait for a price drop
    ;)

  • Olympus God says:

NOt a good business plan. I feel that not many people will keep getting energy. I feel like there will be millons of downloads and maybe 10,000 of those million people will buy energy. Depending on the price of energy, ngmoco will probably altogether lose money on Eliminate. Should have been 2.99 with 99cents release sale for the first week.

    • Robert M. says:

Yeah I think people will drop off.

    • arn says:

I think you guys vastly underestimate the earning potential of these opportunities. There are also in-game marketing signup options instead of paying $$.

There are game companies on facebook that are making a lot of money with just these sort of in-app marketing offers.

      arn

      • Scott30 says:

While I agree Arn it can be a very profitable way to go, it will no doubt be the number 1 free app for quite awhile and alot of ppl will be suckered to buy energy, I mean look at all these stupid MMO's ppl pay for points on and there you go.

But I still stand by what others have said I want to buy a game once and not continue to be nickel and dimed to play it to its fullest. Just give me a set amount and be done with it.

So while sure I'll give it a try but I can tell you without a doubt I wont be buying any energy points.

    • Narcosloth says:

      yah I completely agree

    • Jason says:

It may seem like a bad idea but what it does is give them a huge player base. For a multiplayer game like this having players is the key. Plus as people continue to play the game more they will be more likely to purchase the energy as they will warm up to the idea…the foot in the door technique…

  • Sticktron says:

Ngmoco is really putting all their eggs in one basket here.
If the game isn't well received, or in-app purchases don't take off, they don't make money.
Even at $1, they would have made hundreds of thousands. To risk it is… risky!

  • Ddyracer says:

Wow this makes me feel uncomfortable. i think the servers will get cluttered because people are gonna see a game that could 10 bucks and they see it's free everyone will get their hands on this and it could get pretty buggy with all those people. @Robert did u read the posts above u? i think not. it recharges every 90 min. and im guessin u get 20min of gameplay.

  • Omen says:

Ok, I have a few reactions for it being free. One: They have not changed anything about the in app purhases, you don't HAVE to buy extra energy and I gaurentee that most people won't. On the other hand, more people will play. So tha means it's more friend shall I say, "friendly". No longer will your friends decline to play because they can't afford it. Which leads to more people online. The problem then is the community is not as bright. We are going to end up with 12 year olds who don't buy anything but lite apps. Also, your energy recharges every 24 hours, which isn't bad. Because you can still play when you are out of energy. Credits are basically like XP on an online game. Except that Ngmoco doesn't want you leveling for hours at a time without a price. I just wished that Eliminate at least cost $0.99. That way the community would be more serious. There are people who download every free app and think nothing of it, but rarely do people download paid apps as carelessly.

    • Robert M. says:

That's a great point. I think it will be flooded with bad players and kids. Thank god it's no voice chat. If I want to get bitched at by a 12 year old I'll turn on Xbox Live haha

      • Carl says:

XBox live costs $50/year, so the point about the costs being free or not would not apply… because the 12 year olds who bitch would still get the game.

  • Omen says:

90 minute recharge is what I'm hearing, idk but maybe it is.

  • Rad says:

I'll give this game a try.

I just wish they would have done this differently.

I think I'm OK with paying a subscription for my GPS Drive program. But can't imagine this for a game.

Who knows maybe the free version will be enough?

I'm sure in a month or so the store will be loaded with games just like this anyway.

  • Concerning matchmaking and playtime. You can still play the game, even without energy. Energy just allows you to earn credits, which in turn allows you to level up, buy additional gear, and upgrade your gear to perform the way you want.

Because of that, all skills levels will have players. Why wouldn't you want to keep playing after you upgraded your rocket launcher to be more awesome than before, energy or not?

If you don't want to pay for anything, you will still level up. You will just do so at a regulated pace. You can still fire up the game and play whenever you want.

  • Kanye West says:

"Look Ngmoco's Eliminate I'm happy for you, and imma let you finish, but Gameloft's Nova is gonna be one of the best Halo-ripoffs of ALL TIME! OF ALL TIME!!! That's all I'm saying…"

  • *Even for free you can play whenever you want for as long as you want*

Just wanted to put that out there in the clear, since few people seem to understand. Earning credits only happens while you have energy and that's the only part that is limited.

This is going to be an excellent model. Just watch. People complaining about 12 year olds must not realize that 12 year olds can kick your nose in pretty easily on games like this. lol. Kids with unlimited time and no money will actually fill this out with skilled players, not people who lose interest quickly. People with money and less time can fund it all. People with little time and little money can earn credits with the opt-in in-app marketing. I think there will be a large group of happy people in this scenario despite the skepticism.

I'm not into FPS fragfests enough to really get into a game like this on a portable, but I'll certainly try it out.

  • Steven says:

Once eliminate gets approved will you (ngmoco) hold it for a solid date release or just throw in the app store right when it's approved.

  • Sardines says:

Lol what do you guys have against 12 year olds? I'm one and I certainly wouldn't be abusive to all of you.

    • Robert M. says:

Nothing. You may be one of the cool ones but most are really immature…and that's about normal for a pre-teens. In high school the freshman get picked on sometimes. It's just something you have to deal with. Nothing personal…

  • Narcosloth says:

Omg I would prefer have a solid game for 10 dollars than having to pay continuously to get stuff

On the plus side a lot more players :)

  • Willow says:

I'm with others – game play looks good, but paying within the game? mmm, I'll wait and see on that one!

  • Narcosloth says:

This is the dumbest thing that Ngmoco:) has ever done please please please reconsider. You guys are going to barely make any money from this awesome application. Please re raise the prince. I am a huge fan and this is a appalling idea.

    RECONSIDER BEFORE ITS TOO LATE

P.S sorry for the double post

    • eggzbacon says:

Do you know ANYTHING about marketing?

      • Narcosloth says:

Yes I do and I don't want a game that requires me to continuously pay I just want a game where I pay a solid price (i don't care if its 10 dollars) I just want a good app. I think eliminate is that game but making it free seriously.

    • arn says:

you guys need to realize that Ngmoco making enough money is "not your problem"… I think Ngmoco has researched this business model more than you have.

FWIW, game company Zynga adopts a very similar energy recharging model. They are said to be making an estimated $100 million a year as of April 2009 on similar micro-transactions.

      http://www.techcrunch.com/2009/04/29/zynga-pushing-nine-figures-in-revenues-thanks-to-micro-transactions/

      • Sticktron says:

It IS our problem… obviously if they were to lose alot of money on this game their future endevours may be less ambitious/cheaper investments. They are HOPING this strategy pays off, but whether they make more money this way remains to be seen.

    • Carl says:

You do realize that Ngmoco had the In-App purchases before it was free? The only difference is that it doesn't cost anything to get it. You were still going to get nickel-ed and dimed, just with no initial investment.

  • GodSon says:

Offering ELIMINATE free and adding DLC for this type of online game is such a smart move. I can only imagine how much income this game will make. More income equals More future content!!!

    JUST RELEASE IT ALREADY!!! ""\(^__^)/""

  • bootant says:

May be our new game will be free too :)

  • Best RN says:

I'm ok with it being free if there are no advertisements.

  • Steven says:

Sorry but it has been confirmed that they will have the small Ad banner at the bottom.

  • Shumby says:

    I told you bitches! :D

I said it would make more sense to sell the app for cheap and hook players on the reharges.

I love how upset folks are getting about how it's free. Just wait! This is going to be massive for a loooooooong time. Get on the bus early!

Another interesting note: this really distinguishes the Nova v Eliminate decision.

  • Ballistic says:

Like many of you I dont like this idea. I can really see why Ngmoco would do this though. They don't say anything about it in the article, but I think one major reason they did this was because of piracy. It looks like they completely found away around it with this payment method, and for that I congratulate them. even though i dont like paying this way.

  • dumas1000 says:

10 minutes of free ranked match play ever 1hr 30mins. I think most people are under-estimating how badly this is gonna suck. 10 mins is 1 COD match. Playing this game with any degree of seriousness will probably cost like 5$ a month. It could even cost more. $5 in the real world, not that big of a deal. I sense from the time I've spent on this forum that a lot of idevice owners are kinda on strict budgets. And $5 a month is the conservative estimate. I don't even think $10 a month would suprise me. In the AppStore world, that's a lot of money. And, like I said, a lot of potential players don't even have it.

  • skamando says:

    WUUUHHHH!!!????

  • ramon raux says:

By ELIMINATE being free, then there will be 10000000000000000000000000 people online at the same time.

Has anyone played Nexuiz? It's a free online multipayer FPS. The gameplay looks creepily like this game.

If it really plays like it, this is going to be the most addictive iPhone game ever.

  • Dark NRG says:

This game will end up costing the average user hundreds. Forget WOW with a monthly fee, this system is set up for usage vs credit card balance.

    No thanks

  • Jaime says:

This game being free kind of worries me… I feel like its a ponzi scheme or somthing

  • FTomato says:

Wait, ads? :( I hope there's a way to pay to remove them. Hopefully on the first purchase of DLC. Still, very very awesome news.

  • Nascor says:

    Great, just great

  • Hirdsaw says:

Maybe the dlc not only refils your energy, but mayb it also increases the amount of energy can have so then you culd do mor matches with credits. That wuld b worth it in my opinion.

  • OhMikeOdd says:

Haha. The game is for free and people are still complaining… There is matchmaking. You dont have to upgrade fast if you dont want to- but if the game will be good you probably want to and will end up buying some energy. What the hell is wrong with that? its totally optional how you play it and how fast you will "level up". I would only hate ingame adds. Thats a real turnoff for me…

  • BdragonST says:

yeah, free = more people = more people online.

like… ttr… if the first 2 versions werent free, the new ttr3 wouldnt be crowded like it is now..

  • Malaka24 says:

Wow….reading half of the replies on here are just ridiculous. I don't think you realize how awesome this is going to be. This was going to be an instant purchase for me at whatever cost and now it is being made free to the public. Score!

    Common issues people are having:
    1. You only get to play for 10-15 minutes every 90 minutes or so.
    - You can play all day every day. The only stipulation is that you can only earn credit to upgrade your suit/weapons for 10-15 minutes every 90 minutes or so.

    2. With downloadable content this is gonna cost me a ton of money!
    - Not at all. There is no need to download extra energy…as long as your patient!!! The way I see it is that they are having the option to pay for more energy for people who want to have the best weapons as fast as possible.

    3. Getting "nickeled and dimed" to buy extra energy in order to compete with everyone else
    - They have a matchmaking system set up in which you will be playing against other people of the same skill set as you. Its completely up to you on if you want to pay extra to be able to receive credits faster in order to upgrade your weapon/suit.

    4. This sucks…I would rather just pay a one time fee and get everything.
    - Guess what? You are paying a one time fee and getting everything. That one time fee is free!!

Bottom line…be patient! Youre not being forced to buy extra energy in order to receive credit faster.

  • jesse says:

if i was going to pay $10 for the game out right anyway. i'll do $10 of ingame perchases,to support devs and level up alittle. no biggy! sounds fun!

  • Cinepod says:

    To the developers:

I understand the concern some people may have due to the application being free + in app store purchase to get access to exclusive content. A suggestion to work around solution could be a business model that resembles what Turbine is doing with their MMORPG Dungeons & Dragons Online.

The idea would be to make a large portion of the game free. Make numerous of different challenges ranging from easy to hard which will earn you Eliminate points (E-points) that can be used in an Eliminate store (E-store) to unlock the purchasable content.

Of course, this way of earning points will take long time and require many hours of gameplay, so for those who want the premium deal right away, make options to buy E-store points at various quantums (fx. 500 E-points for X$, 1000 E-points for Y$, 5000 E-points for Z$).

Last but not least, the VIP user who wants to go "all in", you can make an option to buy the whole package for a monthly subscription fee of X$, or to just sell the game for a price above the usual iTunes max price at fx. 14.99$. However, for this to work, you might want to consider spending a lot of time thinking about how to give identity to the community.

Bring tons of updates mixed between Free 2 Play (F2P) and Pay 2 Play (P2P) content, make E-tournaments announced on your website and via the E-dashboard screen accessable from within the game menu, where people can compete for E-point rewards.

This could be done by analyzing the level, enhancements (stuff like teleport, high jumping etc.), and quality of gear (equipment and weapons) people have. Depending on the outcome of this algorytm people are then placed in 3-5 different leagues (ranging from casual to elite) to make the tournament as fair as possible.

Anyway, these are just a few ideas. :)

  • adad says:

    Sounds like everyone wins here!

  • Martin says:

Wtf is people complaining about? I thought that the game would be like 5$-10$ but now it will be free. DLC would have been there anyway, Even if the game cost 10$. Btw, the dlc is just for getting energy refill, so you can Get more credits, so you can buy more stuffs and upgrade your items. SMS, btw… The system on Eliminate will make you fight against people that Are just as good as you. Maybe in the 3 first battles you will face unserious people, but if you Are good, you will rank up, so you will face better players.

I Think there is an offline mode too, so you can play against bots.

But, for gods sake stop complaining about it being free!!!! I mean, you would still have dlc if you paid for it, so it doesnt make any sense to complain

  • David says:

Imagine dying in World of Warcraft and having to pay (or wait 90 minutes) each time you died or was near death. What a horrible horrible idea. I'd rather pay $5 or $10 for the full game and be done with it.

  • Icepulse says:

They should just stick w/ a "Lite" version that has the options for DLC, and a "Full-Featured" version for full price that has all upgrades from the giddyup.

    That should keep everyone happy.

  • Jaime says:

I hope the servers can handle everyone with an Iphone playing this game

  • Greg says:

From what I understand, this is an ingenious way to fight piracy, if you give the game away, but offer in-app purchases to enrich gameplay, you're eliminating pirates. Maybe that's where the name comes from ELIMINATE piracy, give it away free, and charge on-demand.

  • Pyro says:

I think ngmoco:) might know a tad more about marketing strategies than most of us. They know what they're doing, and I trust them.

And c'mon guys, IT'S FREE!!!!! Why do you care about ngmoco:)'s success? Even if it doesn't make a ton o' money, they still have Touch Pets coming out, and I'm pretty sure Rolando has kept them VERY MUCH afloat.

  • Martin says:

Jeez, Why Are you complaining? You can still play if you dont have energy, but you wont earn credits. There is a single player mode in it too i Think, so dont worry… Well, you Get energy for 3-4 maches…

The dlc would be there Even if the game cost like 40$… not like many would by it then though, but still…

My point: why Are you complaining? Dont you want to Get a free app? do you want to pay 10$ for the same game they Are realising for free??? Nag, dont Think so…

  • ramon says:

This is basically a Lite version.

  • Yoshi 256 says:

It is only a multplayer shooter or does it have a singleplayer campaign?

Awesome graphics, let's hope the controls work fine.

  • D says:

    smart move! ngmo-fo-shoooo

  • jesse says:

i think at launch, the game will be so popular ,that its going to bring AT&Ts data down to a crash. also people are pissed cause they want to be the best, with out others spending way more cash to level up faster. i get it,but its just a game! have fun with it! anyway it turns out,its still a very interesting concept. i like to see were it goes.

  • Reggie says:

I can not wait for this I was willing to pay 5-9.99 for this game, so now I can spend that in DLC. I hope most of you do the same, support the servers so we can keep playing. This isgoing to be crazy awesome.

  • Ballpeen says:

    PEOPLE! PEOPLE! Re-read the article.

You will be able to continue playing, you just won't be earning credits, for leveling up, until your energy is recharged.

"Every player gets a certain auto-renewable source of energy, but once depleted, to earn more credits the player must either 1) wait a certain amount of time for your energy to recharge or 2) purchase more energy. If you don't care about credits, you may also continue to play but simply be ineligible to earn credits during those games. Credits are used for equipment upgrades and leveling up."

  • Dreamcee says:

To all the people that think this game is free

    yes you are right

    BUT

to play the full game experience you will have to constantly keep paying!!

Put even more simply for the people that have no understanding of the theoretical costs involved in playing this game

it will be like gettin the brand new call of duty for free yet pay £1 per 100 bullets but every half hour you get 10 free bullets

in the case of COD mod war 2 I'd rather pay the £38 than spend £££'s on bullets!

If this was just about piracy then why not offer a one time in app payment as that would stop them would it not?
But it's notabout that! it's about ripping people off or at least the people with no sense!!
I hope this fails which in the long run at least in the uk and Europe it will as the average consumer is abit more savvy with their money

Lmao this is the games money model in a different context

a car racing game where every hour you get a free car that you can race on all tracks but as soon as you lose a race you can't progress any further and have to wait another hour before being able to move on to further tracks or pay for an inapp purchase to get a car that you can crash an still progress yet in further races the car you have isn't powerful enough so again you buy an inapp purchase to upgrade your engine etc etc

    then add in multiplayer racing

cue people buying all the inapps to get the ultimate racing car and with enough car modifications you could spend ££

    Wow I wish I was a developer : ]

      How about this one?

Knowing full well some individuals can't have the pie others made they stand on the sidelines desperate to get a whiff. All they can do is demand how it should be sliced.

Pointless, no? Make your own damn pie. :)

Stop with the complaining!!! You do realize that you can still play without energy? You just wont Get credits (exp)

energy will recharge every 90 minutes, so it is no need to pay for it to recharge…

If you dont like the dlc, dont buy'em

  • Dreamcee says:

I along with many others would prefer to buy a game and then actually play the entire game without having to get credits to get upgrades to actually complete the game, trust me this is only the start once other folks click on to what they can get away with in regards of costings the gaming experience on both touch and phone will become rather more expensive.

I can imagine in 6mths time all games will be
free to download but to play the full game you
will have to actually continually spend money on
dlc and never actually have anything to show
    for the money spent.

To dvessel Im the consumer that pays for things I don't expect to get things for free but I do expect that when I pay for a game that to complete it I don't have to continually put more money into it

when a car you have is bought and paid for you don't continue to give money to the manufacturer to beable to use it to te best of it's ability

    same for a house

same for every single thing in retail

when you buy a house af

      Dreamcee, your an idiot

"when a car you have is bought and paid for you don't continue to give money to the manufacturer to be able to use it to to best of it's ability"

You may not have to pay the people you got the car from (itunes), but to be able to use it "to the best of its ability" it requires money, or did you forget that cars require maintenance and gasoline (ngmoco)? That was a horrible analogy. Same goes for the house, you dont just pay for it and live comfy in it, unless of course you dont want electricity, water cable, etc. and taxes.

"play the entire game without having to get credits to get upgrades to actually complete the game"

Again, idiotic. You can play the entire game without buying energy. I did. You can. Everyone can.

STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT FREE STUFF! Nobody is forcing you to buy the extra energy, and its not like you HAVE to have it. Especially since it matches you up with people at your level. They are simply giving you the option of leveling up faster. Is it a crime to try to make a profit, especially when your giving away a great free product which most likely took a lot of time and money to create.

So stop complaining and trying to sound smart because you just look like an ignorant jerk

  • Dreamcee says:

    K it neva mind lol

  • Anonymous says:

Actually guys, this is not really a lite version- more like a harder or slower version of the full since it just takes a while longer to get points for upgrades

  • Demarest says:

I seriously wonder how most users on this website even get through a single day in their lives with the reading comprehension and common sense that you display with your comments. My favorite one is "but u hav 2 pay 2 keep playin". NO. YOU. DONT! You never ever have to spend a cent on this game. You can still level up and upgrade your equipment without spending money. Another point I'd like to make is that this game clearly isn't designed in the sense that you'd be sitting around for hours playing it. It's a pickup-and-play a match or two type game. Maybe when you're on the bus or break in school or work. By the time you are ready to play again, your energy is recharged and you can earn more credits. Many other developers have struck it rich with this business model of free to play, plus micro-transactions to enrich the gamer's experience. Take Maple Story for example — that game has earned billions of dollars globally thanks to a similar business model.

All in all, absolutely nobody should be complaining at this point. Ngmoco is about to give away an amazing game that we should be excited about, not crying over its business model.

Accualy the energy thing is genious. I've spent over 300 on apps I hardly play becase I get stuck or something. I'm leval 20 and never payed a dime. This is the best deal I've got since midomi for free or something.

So if you want to leval up faster you pay for me. And you always get matched with similar players so there I no getting owned unless you just suck. Even though I mean I've had my good and bad game

if your leval 20 add me justinsean

Plus letting it be free let's more people be online wich is a good thing a bigger audiance
