tumblr_kpq5lvnAJm1qzulsbo1_400Today ngmoco released two new videos on their upcoming four player online deathmatch game, Eliminate. Like all ngmoco releases, Eliminate is shrouded in secrecy and little bits of information are slowly being unveiled as the game gets closer to its impending release. Regardless, these two videos have quite a few interesting details in them and are much more meaty than your average ngmoco teaser. Both are worth a look if you're at all interested in Eliminate.

The first video released is a short trailer in the same style of the previous Eliminate trailers that exhibit the various technologies offered by Arsenal Megacorp, your employer in the game:

The second video clip is from the latest episode of the ngmoshow where producer Chris Plummer walks us through the upgrade system and the various weapon and armor available for purchase in-game:

The in-game energy and credit system has been a highly controversial topic on our forums since they were both revealed. Something to consider though, per our WWDC coverage of the game, Eliminate will have an in-depth performance tracking system to match players up with other players of similar skill.

If this system works as intended, there will likely never be situations where you are in game getting stomped by players who have been able to purchase much better equipment than you. Those players will have ranked up enough that they will be fighting with players of similar skill and gear levels, leaving newer and lesser equipped players to compete on a more even playing field.

Details are still sketchy on most of the features of Eliminate, but in the meantime feel free to follow the official thread on our forums.

Sadly, this video all the proof you need. The game's balance WILL BE broken. Those who spend the most money will be given distinct advantages over those who don't. He's the equation, and I've been saying this for weeks. Real money spent<cells<energy<additional "ranked" matches<credits & leveling-up<upgrades. And upgrades throw the balance of the game completely out of wack.

This will only work if a matchmaking system forces people to play only again opponents who are on the same level as them. I have to believe ngmoco is going to try this, but there has to be enough players to fill every level bracket essentially all of the time. For example, there are not nearly enough people playing iMech at any one time to impliment this sort of a system with that particular game.

That was a long-winded way of me saying that this game will not succeed unless there are a crapload of people online playing it. the game, in order to play fairly, needs to attract way more online players than any iphone game has ever gotten before.

when you visit the Eliminate site, there is a little screen that says "final system's check" when I run my curser over it, a caption appears that reads "October 2009 – prepare for launch." That would seem to confirm the October 1 launch date that others have speculated based upon the timer.

Of course, that would mean that the game itself was submitted at least a month ago and is already approved and has been so for a while now. The fact that they refuse to come out and actually say which day it will release on, or the price that it will cost, if it has already been approved by Apple, and that they're going to make people wait when it could already be out, sucks.

But it would be awfully presumptous for them to imply a release if the game hasn't already been approved. I'm certain that it has been. They could release it today, if they wanted to, but they don't.

Yes, the game is going to be unbalanced, but with time you should be able to upgrade without having to spend money. I kind of like this because it will create challange (I'm badass) and because it will pro long the game life.

anyone else f*cking tired of hearing about this game ?

its been months and months… so annoying

probly wont even match up to mc:sd at all

I am tired of hearing about this game. Doesn't look nearly as good as modern cambat. It has no single player camaign. And mutiplayer is only fourplayers at a time, which sucks. I don't get why we can't have more than four players at a time. There is a lot of PSP games out there that allow for more than four players. Shouldn't the iPhone be cappable of doing more than just four players? Anyways I can't wait for gameloft's FPS game nova!

    • Jaime says:

Doesn't match up? The game is not out, and it's an online fps that will hopefully have the controls of MC:SD, if not better. I havn't heard enough about the game.

  • Mcelotto says:

I never pay to gear up too, and i cant wait to start playing it!
