Konami Bringing 'Krazy Kart Racing' to iPhone
posted August 19th, 2009 11:13 AM EDT by arn in Upcoming Games, iPhone games, iPod touch gamesKonami announced at GamesCon that they are releasing the "the definitive kart racer" for the iPhone with up to 6 person multiplayer (presumed to be local). The game offers a 3D cartoon style and brings ten classic Konami gaming heroes to the track across 16 themed circuits.
Using the traditional third-person view, players guide their chosen character around the laps, using whatever they can to steal an advantage over their CPU or multi-player rivals. Nitro boosts can give a welcome burst of speed, while a wide range of extras that can be picked up during the race and can be used to slow down opposing karts.<
There are five single-player modes and linked multi-player races and competitions. The press release also mentions a partnership with Polarbit who was responsible for the early and popular Crash Bandikoot Nitro Kart 3D kart racer for the iPhone.
Here's a trailer of the game which is due for release in August:

Hopefully, we will finally get a decent kart racer!
If it's anything like the GBA version I'll get it!
It's strange to see Pyramid Head in a cutesy racer…
so looking forward to this. Looks pretty awesome.
Looks amazing. Can't wait for this!
It looks completely different than the GBA version… kind of cheaper…
The graphics look pretty bad.
Lol
im kinda confused how come it says Available in App Store now? O_O
Oh well it looks very good for a Crash Kart look alike probably a must get for me
The iPhone could use a good cart racer and as it will obviously never get MarioKart the door is wide open. This however, looks very, very poor. It amazes me that any dev, post Real Racing, can thing something as shoddy as this is acceptable.
i'll end up buying this if its very playable, however, looks to be the most generic and uninspired looking kart racer ever made.
I really liked Konami Krazy Racers on the GBA so hopefully this will be decent, although I'm still not to keen on tilt steering. I know there isn't a better way of doing it on the iphone, maybe I should just avoid all racing games on the platform in future. After playing this of course.
Why the heck didn't they just port the GBA game with some iPhone control options? Krazy Racers is great..there was no need for them to do this
How awful does the graphics look on this, it looks like its been made on a program aimed at children that promises to build your own game, no programming needed, just click the mouse to select blar blar, and bing-a bonga-bing-bam, amaze your friends with your mad and crazy games creations.
The major labels just are not doing as well as I thought, I think its down to the low entry cost level and the fact that indie devs can compete here and that the big studios can not, or will not, get ahead by the usual tactic, that is, throwing money at the project, with the iphone, the indie dev and the big studios are on a more even keel in the competition. And it shows.
Thank god you have deep pockets Konami, because if it wasn't for the high bar entry cost level in PC and console games, you certainly wouldn't be first past the post, your efforts here will certainly testify to that fact. I wonder who or what will get blamed for its poor performance in sales, time to start practising the future buck passing right now I think, whoever is responsible has a cozy job to keep after all.
it's probably the same team that developed Rock Revolution
16 abwechslungsreiche rennstreckens?! Awesome!
I'm sorry, but I watched that video and just say a re-skinned Nitro Kart. Even most of the sounds are EXACTLY the same. The boost sound, that deep growl, exactly the same. Crash effects and tracks styles? Exactly the same.
I'm usually a nice guy, but this is terrible. Polarbit is full of lazy programmers.
As VW would put it, "Das Auto."
