Konami to Bring 'Silent Scope' Arcade Game to iPhone

Konami announced today that they will be bringing Silent Scope to the iPhone and iPod Touch.
Based on the popular arcade game originally released in 1999, players take on the role of the world's top sniper and must defeat terrorists to save the American First Family, including the President of the United States, who have been abducted by terrorists in Chicago.
The game is said to be designed to take "full advantage" of the iPhone's multi-touch user interface and feature tap-to shoot controls.

The game is a rail shooter and can be played in Arcade Mode and Training Mode. The Arcade Mode features up to three stages of gameplay: Story, Shooting Range, and Time Attack. The game is "coming soon" to the App Store.
Konami's Metal Gear Solid Touch received some criticism about the iPhone-simplified gameplay, though Silent Scope sniper mechanic already seems well suited to the iPhone.
What made Silent Scope so awesome was the actual gun you used with the tiny monitor in the scope… For the iphone…? Meh, I'll stick with MGST… The best was Silent Scope II with multiplayer matches…
Metal Gear Solid Touch had a good play mechanic. (zoom, snipe). So I could see Silent Scope for iPhone play very well actually.
Hopefully, it will carry a long story mode. Much of the criticism of MGST was short play time.
OOH how about Silent Hill Arcade?
@Jeff – Hahaha. Yeah kind pointless, No? Is the iPhone somehow lacking in Sniper games? Its clearly not lacking in tower defense games either but at least ngmoco is bring a completely fresh perspective to it.
These "established" game publishers are just "spamming" the App Store.

Silent Scope definitely understands how shooters should work, so I'm sure the controls will function beautifully. The graphics/animation look great. I only wish it wasn't a port of a 10+ year old game. New levels, please.
At least this is more acceptable then Metal Gear, only because this is what it was in the arcade.. a sniper game. Nothing wrong with good arcade games making a come-back on this platform simply because and gun/mouse games work out nicely.
Nothing wrong with Konami bringing this back. I wouldn't be surprised if Sega releases the House of the Dead series or or some of their other gun-based games either.
This is the gameplay I've been wanting from a sniper game. This'll go nice beside Time crisis
