Fans of the marble/labyrinth games should note that there's a newcomer in the App Store and it's actually pretty nice. Wooden Labyrinth 3D [App Store] offers 100 levels of tilting fun but adds a 3D twist. Besides the traditional 2D levels, it also offers platforms and obstacles that must be jumped over by simply shaking your iPhone.

The game also provides a 3D perspective that shifts with the tilt of your iPhone. It can be seen clearly in the video (below). The game plays well and "feels" right. It also provides plenty of calibration/sensitivity options.

The developers plan to offer a level editor in future versions. The price is $2.99 at present but will go up to $3.99 with the addition of the level editor.

Overall, a very well polished version of labyrinth that adds some interesting features over its competitors.

That looks amazing! I like how the fallen balls are seen rolling underneath.

Very polished actually. Especially the jumping part. Before this a 3D clone of labyrinth had already been made (forgot its name) but was not very good.

That checkered hole looks just like the old (2D) Labyrinth. Same developer?

Nope, not the same dev. And yes, I guess I should have gone with the flag idea... Although that checkered pattern has become the de facto standard in all maze/labyrinth games.

I have the non 3D and this one is more graphically pleasing.

    I bought this too and am enjoying it but 2 things are annoying me;
    1) the 3d effect of the walls seems too extreme when tilting the iphone, i.e. the walls pivot far more than the tilt of the phone leading to a strange effect rather than feeling like you are actually holding the wooden maze. Adjusting sensitivity doesn't seem to correct this.

    2) I find jumping difficult, I wish there was an option to just tap the screen to jump rather than shaking it.

Apart from that it is extremely well done and should last a while with its 100 levels.

I am actually the maker of the video. I am friends with the developer. He is an awesome person (And a perfectionist, as you may be able to tell by the game.) even though i am friends, I can honestly say this is one of if not the best graphics on a game, and also an amazing game. I will make sure Elias, the developer, knows about these nice comments on the game! And yes, Rychiar, I also thing it's better then the origional. Thanks!!!

I thought the original Labyrinth developer made this, because it looks like a carbon copy - which is no bad thing, i guess, but the 3D element seems to be too exaggerated.

I can *kinda* see where you're coming from with this comment, but I personally would rather not play the game using this method - it would take away from the "naturalness" and "reality" of the game.
As it stands now, it behaves exactly as a real physical puzzle/maze device would, ie: you want the ball the jump out the box, then you have to flip the device. It makes sense.
In the real world you don't balls to jump off flat surfaces by tapping on them. And yes, yes, I know this is a game and so doesn't really come under the banner of "the real world", but the point is to try and emulate a real device.
Anyway, maybe the solution is to offer players both options: some people play by tapping, some people play by flipping. That way we could each choose our personal preferences.
But I'd only expect the developer to implement this if enough people cried out for it, rather than just one or two...

I love your level pack. Assuming that you are BrettA. If you find yourself up to a challenge do 2265, a truly heroic pack.

There is a slight delay between the phone rotation and the 3D view angle reacting. It would be great if these were synced up. Currently it does detract from the game.
Overall it's a very nice game and starts to feel very real after playing for about a minute. I agree with the post above about the "shake to jump". It feels natural this way.
I've switched between this and Labyrinth (Lite) a few times and can't really say I prefer either one over the other for the physics, but the "jump" and price made this the winner for my $.

the jumps were really hard at first, but if you play by holding the two bottom corners, it becomes much easier than using a full grip.
