Astraware's port of side-scrolling shooter Platypus [App Store] just landed in the App Store.
Based on the cult Mac classic from Idigicon, Platypus is a fast, fun side-scrolling arcade shooter with a unique difference – every tree, cloud, ship, and enemy was created from modelling clay – so explosions don’t bang, they splat!
Quite literally, every element of the game is said to be "made from clay and photographed using a digital camera." The game offers both accelerometer and touch-based controls.
Astraware has recently posted an updated video of gameplay that looks fun:

No tap-buttons? No d-pad? I like it already!
That's what I call "Art"
good job!
The soundtrack is enough to make me buy it let alone the cool game itself XD
Ill be tapping to that all day…
It's worth pointing out that you can download Platypus for free for your Mac desktop (and have been able to do so for some time now) if you want to play it before you buy it.
This game is really good, nice and polished!!!!
One of the better SHUMPS… Shoot 'em Ups!
GET IT. You will not be disappointed.
Love my iPhone.
The graphics look fresh and new. Nice to see something completely different.
They have changed some sound elements compared to the desktop version which is odd…
Downloaded it and played for about a half hour, terrific game, i was skeptical about accelerometer controls but they work very well, graphics are genius and the sound reminds me of the NES days.
Just found out that this great shooter is published by a UK firm called Idigicon
