Gameloft to Bring 'Hero of Sparta' and 'Brothers in Arms' to iPhone
posted by arn on November 22nd, 2008 12:57 AM EST in Upcoming GamesThe Guardian reports on two ambitious games coming from Gameloft before the end of the year.

The first title called Brothers in Arms: Hour of Heros is a described as a 3D third-person perspective WWI actioner featuring jeep and tank driving and onfoot shooting. The Guardian reports that the game uses a virtual D-pad for movement.
The second title is called Hero of Sparta and is a God of War style 3rd parson "hack-n-slasher".
Again it features an onscreen D-Pad as well as contextual options like hit, defend, change weapons, etc. During combat, stringing together a range of moves results in an icon appearing onscreen – if this is repeatedly tapped quickly enough, you get a special finishing move.
Gameloft has posted a cinematic trailer for Hero of Sparta:

yea, gameloft are loving their fmv, but i think we've seen it all before. great way to gobble storage :/
At least the CGI shows there putting effort into the game, the usually don't use that for iPod/iPhone games
lol, to describe that trailer as "300-inspired" is an understatement of the extreme order.
One thing you can rarely blame Gameloft of is originality
looks cool. I would love to have a God of War type of game on my iPhone.
not a single image of the game???
Calm down, it's coming out in a week. I'm sure they're in the beta testing phases of the game right now, and not doing any sort of last minute coding before the holiday rush.
Problem is these games sent designed for iPhone. They just port existing title over from other platforms. Most of which have buttons to control the game. Relying on "hot spots" as a replacment to real buttons is a joke.
I guess they both look sort of interesting. I don't think I'll be purchasing right away though
If they bring out brothers in arms I will be so happy! Hopefully it is good!
If that was real time, it would be very impressive for an iPhone game. However, since it appears to be rendered in advance, it seems very pathetic. It looks marginally better than StarCraft's cinematic trailers to me… which I'll remind you is 10 years old.
