'Dr. Awesome' and 'Dropship' Previews From Ngmoco
posted November 20th, 2008 12:37 AM CST by arn in Upcoming GamesLast we heard from Ngmoco, they were still hammering out details on the release date of Rolando despite some initial hints that we'd hear an official released date today. It seems, however, they were comfortable enough to reveal two other games that they have been working on by posting these videos to their blog.
Dropship
Dr. Awesome
Both of these games have been described as "fast apps" by Young, which indicate smaller games priced inexpensively like Topple and Mazefinger.

The release date for Rolando is December 12th. There was an announcement on YouTube, I think.

Dropship looks a bit hard to control but interesting and this Doctor thing is, regarding the minigame, a 100% rip-off of Virus.

looks more like a Qix clone than

they need to fix the sound of the spaceship's rockets…. sounds like a bad fart.
And Dr Awesome sounds good and quite fast-paced, but can't help thinking it looks and plays like Bix already on the App Store (although doesn't look anywhere as near fancy as NGcomo's offering)

I, yeah, sorry, I meant Qix

Hmm. Does Dropship only look cool because you don't see the big fingers triggering the round menu?

Me too, Noah. Maybe this is just one of the mini-games though and the others will be more like TC.

apparently theres noobs here who think this is like virus? WTF? in virus you fill a screen. in dr. awesome you apparently "remove" the infection by doing that cutting thing. any similarity? NO.

Let's see… fill it in, cut it out. fill it in, cut it out.
Hmm. Yup, sounds like semantics to me.
I must be a noob. are noobs cool nowadays then?

also a noob here
am i wrong or is EVERY game from ngmoco "inspired" by another game? it started with "mazefinger" (rip off of arcade machine "hot finger") and now this (dr. awesome - phoenix wright graphics and qix-like gameplay)

Well, for me that's ok. When they rip-off New Super Mario World, Mario Kart and Age of Empires, I'll be the first to buy that ;).
