A Quick Look at 'Vektrax', a 3D Tunnel Shooter

Metismo has recently released Vektrax [App Store], a 3D tunnel shooter for the iPhone built on the company's Bedrock cross-platform development environment.
Vektrax is basically a somewhat simplified version of the popular popular, multi-platform game Torus Trooper developed by Kenta Cho (who also developed rRootage which has been ported to the iPhone).
In Vektrax the player controls a ship barreling through a tunnel landscape littered with enemies. The goal is to destroy said enemies and make it from checkpoint to checkpoint before the timer runs out. Booster fuel accumulates as enemies are destroyed and allows for temporary speed boosts that aid in reaching the checkpoints. The game features tilt-control with a touch to trigger the boosters (lasers are on auto-fire).
While I find Torus Trooper to be the more engaging game, this iPhone adaptation of the formula provides simple shooter fun. Hopefully the developer will include a soundtrack in a future version of the game–this initial release features only basic explosion (and the like) sound effects.
Shooter fans–and particularly fans of Torus Trooper–should find the game worth the $0.99 admission fee.

I love this (being a big Torus Trooper fan). Especially at it's cheap price.
I played it on hard mode for the first time this morning. It's a lot more fun that way. It seriously moves almost twice as fast and there're a lot more enemies. I've really been loving this game.
Just a minor point of correction: It's Kenta Cho, not Kent.
@peter fixed. thanks.
this reminds me of "Yaris" for the 360 live arcade… in a better way, this is fun, i only wish levels were random-generated. great controls and nice visuals. high scores could be better (with name input at least)
picked this one up earlier today. it's pretty fun
Huh, that reminds me of the old Atari arcade game STUN Runner.
Very well executed and superb value for the small money I bought it and like it a lot, I just wish for some better and more soundeffects. It's good that you don't hear the shooting-sound (that would be very irritating) but I'd love some better sound effects when things explode and i'd love a swooooooshhh sound effect when you activate the boost. It'd make the whole boost-experience more intense.
@fluffy: Ya, Arn likened it to STUN Runner when he pointed it out to me originally.
