It sure has been a while since Gearbox Software’s Randy Pitchford said that the company was “thinking about" bringing the Homeworld series to mobile platforms someday. That was almost 8 years ago! Fast forward to September of 2019 and Gearbox officially announced during PAX West a from-the-ground-up-for-mobile entry in the series tentatively titled Homeworld Mobile. Then in early 2020 they released a full-blown gameplay trailer for the game that looked incredible, and alongside that they began taking sign-up requests for beta testing. That brings us to this week, a little over a year since that last trailer, and Homeworld Mobile has received another brand new trailer that is somehow even more impressive than the last one. Seriously, this game looks stunning. Homeworld Mobile continues to progress through its invite-only technical testing phase, and if you haven’t done so previously you can sign up over on the game’s extremely fancy schmancy website to drop your name in the hat and be considered for future testing opportunities. The aforementioned fancy and schmancy website also includes loads of information about Homeworld Mobile, including how it fits into the overarching narrative of the series and some more detail on what you can expect gameplay-wise.
