Square Enix Just Announced ‘Dragon Quest Tact’ Which Is a Tactical RPG for iOS and Android in Japan

The Dragon Quest franchise has no shortage of premium mobile games and it has even seen multiple free to play releases over the years. The most recent free to play Dragon Quest game to have everyone’s attention in Japan is Dragon Quest Walk which looks super charming. While I’m still waiting on Dragon Quest VII to get released in English on iOS and Android, Square Enix is finally bringing Dragon Quest of the Stars to the West this month. Today, the company announced Dragon Quest Tact which is a tactical RPG based on Dragon Quest for iOS and Android in Japan. Check out some screenshots from the it below:

Dragon Quest Tact is free to play with in app purchases and it features turn based combat from the franchise in encounters with 3D enemies on a grid based map. It is being developed by Aiming and is being directed by Yuji Horii. Check out the official Japanese website for it here. Dragon Quest Tact is set to release this year in Japan on iOS and Android. An English release hasn’t been announced at this time and since this is a Dragon Quest game, I can never say whether the West will get it or not. Are you going to try out the Japanese release later this year?

It is very good! I have spent a lot of time on the Japan version and will be on the English one too and it's very much a real DQ game at it's core. You can even change jobs after you get to Alltrades Abbey :) I will be glad to get more of the story part with the English release

Oooh, the Dragon Quest version of Fire Emblem Heroes. They could call it Dragon Quest Hero... oh wait, no they can’t. Hahaha. DQ Walk and DQ Tact sounds not that exciting. I might give it a try anyway though.
