Way back in April of last year, following a trademark from Konami for something called Grimoire of Souls, the company officially announced that Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls was a real game in development for smartphones. At that time the game was only officially announced for Japan, but this past January during a Konami earnings report they did list Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls for a global release sometime this year. Now with Tokyo Game Show 2019 in full swing, Konami has released a brand new trailer showing Grimoire of Souls in action. It’s in Japanese, but is still worth checking out.
Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls is sort of a “greatest hits" mashup of previous Castlevania games where you can play as some of the iconic Vampire Hunters from the series battling against the equally iconic enemies and bosses. It will also include co-op play for up to 4 players similar to 2011’s Castlevania: Harmony of Despair for consoles where you can run around with buddies clearing out levels of bad guys. Our own Shaun Musgrave is at TGS this year and my gut tells me he’s laid hands on this one, so expect more on Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls soon.
