‘Baldur’s Gate: Siege of Dragonspear’ has Launched on PC, Hopefully iOS Version Will Follow Soon

If you’re one of the many Baldur’s Gate fans, I’ve got kind of good news for you. Baldur’s Gate: Siege of Dragonspear, Beamdog’s first attempt at developing an original game in the Baldur’s Gate universe, has been released for PC, and hopefully iOS and Android releases won’t be too far off. The developers have said they weren’t planning a simultaneous launch, and work on the mobile version is currently in progress. Usually, Beamdog doesn’t take too long between PC and mobile versions of its Baldur’s Gate games, but this one isn’t just an “enhanced edition" of an older game, so the timing might be different this time around.

If you haven’t heard much about Siege of Dragonspear, this third game in the Baldur’s Gate universe is technically the second in terms of chronology since it bridges the story between the two original Baldur’s Gate games. The game uses an updated version of the Infinity Engine (and an improved UI) and offers around 30 hours of gameplay, new characters, and a new class. You’ll even be able to use your characters from the original. If you want to learn more about the game, go here. When I know more about a release date, I will let you know. Till then, go play the original if you haven’t so you can be ready for .

Tales of Link also had its US App Store launch recently (Potentially global, I cannot tell). I believe it was previously a Canada soft-launch. Fun FTP mechanics with a "match 3" style gameplay and a decent amount of strategy. Great fan service for those who have played the Tales games on various platforms over the years.

While it's not bad I was disapointed to see that they copied the exact gameplay/mechanics of Thousand Memories (also called Soul Linker in some country).

i think these "weird release times" is due to the new itunes connect dash board. It gives developer a new option for release. In the past, there were only two options "Manual release" and "auto release upon approval", plus some tinkering of the availability date.

Now, availability date is gone, and a third option has been added "release automatically but no sooner than X date". I suppose when dev choose this option and set the date to .. let say 7th April, the game gets released as each region hits 7th april. While those others who releases manually may time for a US midnight release, and rare few who actually gets to arrange with apple their release date-times.

All these resulted in what we observed now as the staggered release timing of new games.
