‘i Love Katamari’ Gets Update

Namco has released a version 1.0.1 update to their iPhone Katamari outing, i Love Katamari [App Store].  As reported by the company, the update provides:

  • Improved control response
  • Added tilt indicator to game screen

Our forum readers have reported mixed results, with overall indications of improved performance.  Wegmans had this to say:

This makes the game playable!! I wasn’t able to beat the second level before (ran out of time/frustrated) and now i beat it with a minute to spare! The game is much better, and makes turning a little less frustrating as well.

I just played that one level to see if it was better, and it certainly is. The controls are perfect now and there is no recalibration or anything like that.

This is probably a good move. While I loved 1112 (occasional typos aside), Episode 1 seemed almost like a primer on how to move around, interact with people, and use items... not great for the $7.99 price tag. If they keep up their stated plan to release new chapters for half the price this Lite version will hopefully get more people interested.

I downloaded this right away. I've been curious about this game since it came out, but still have no clue about the gameplay.

This should help out his sales a lot too.

Tried it and it seems a bit boring to me, does it ever let up from touching everything? Am used to games with some sort of logical puzzles in the midst of exploring. Otherwise it looks and sounds nice.

TSP: It allows you to touch everything, get some stupid random string of text as a reply, but allows you to interact with nothing.

There are no intelligent puzzles of logic to be found here.
