I can cross one more game off my “Please please please I would do anything to have you updated for widescreen" list as the grandfather of iOS runners, Semi Secret’s Canabalt ($2.99), has finally been updated with support for 4-inch screens. Canabalt is widely considered the game that sparked off the auto-runner genre on iOS following its successful launch way back in October 2009. It’s also fondly remembered around TouchArcade as the basis for countless arguments on whether or not a free Flash game should cost $2.99 for an iPhone version. Good times.
The great thing about Canabalt is that it was a perfect fit for mobile, and it was updated with all sorts of nifty features like online leaderboards in December 2009, Universal iPad support in June 2010, and Retina Display support in January of 2011. Unfortunately, that was the last significant content update for Canabalt, and it’s been dying for a widescreen update and some maintenance type fixes ever since. Along with widescreen, this latest update also includes a new music track, 4 different runner characters, and improved Game Center and Twitter integration.
I have to say, spending a good chunk of my Sunday playing Canabalt felt like hanging out with an old friend. The runner genre has evolved a lot over the years, but the beauty in Canabalt is in its simplicity. It’s a true App Store classic, so make sure to check out the new update whether you’ve been a fan for years or if you missed out on it during its heyday.

So many, I won't know what to check out. Hoping there's a stream to show all these games off
Can't find the link for Point Blank?
Looks like a weak week. Will save my money because internetz.
Everyone check out wot blitz. Especially if you already have an account for pc or xbox. Probably the best online tank game. I got it a couple months ago for beta testing on the iPad. It's solid
Yeah I've played a little bit of it and it seems a lot better than battle supremacy
Just tired of all these Freemium titles.
I would suggest checking this one out.
It is using a free to play model that seems to avoid giving players power with cash
Instead it only speeds up your research progression (which you still need to earn, by the way)
Holy shit no one said it was going to come out tonight!!!!
May I ask a question? Okay..2 questions...why is the list at the bottom of the article not alphabetical as the top half is?? Ideally would be to have the forum link at the bottom with the top half but I suspect that has to do with how TA was set up initially and thus not be able to handle so many titles on release time.
Thanks!
I thought these posts were supposed to help us wade through the App Store and find good games. This huge list has a baffling number of really low quality games on it instead of a shorter list with more promising games.
Exactly, kind of defeats the purpose.
Probably something to do with ad dollars and trying to stay alive.
Yeah most of these are a waste of space. They simply crowd out the well made games here and in the app store... real shame
So many! I don't know where to start...
World of tanks and aerena are easily the best releases this week
Today's theme: Shovel-ware. :/
I'd suggest that all IPhone users check out First Strike Game, it just received an update adding more content and universal support. It's basically a "new" IPhone game.
Good luck reviewing all these!
Like this comment if you scrolled through the entire post!
(But really, nothing caught my eye :|)
That Bowl Faster description! I LOLed so hard.
That'll be an insta-download the second I get home from work.
Does anyone know when monster hunter freedom unite will come out I can't wait any longer!!!
Yeah that actually looks pretty fun.
World of Tanks Blitz, Battle Casters, Battle Bear Ultimate FPS and maybe Oscura Second Shadow later for me.
Oh and Monsters ate my birthday cake look fun too.
I'm pretty sure that all the app commentaries given above have depleted TA's exclamation point supply for this week.
Nothing looks too promising.
Thats a really big load of nothing....
Worst list of games ever
Also the new Deadpool pinball table is out in the Zen Pinball and Marvel Pinball apps.
My game is also out today, is there any way to get it listed here?
Which one is it?
A weak week? Hardly! I've downloaded 6 freebies and there's still 2 or 3 paid ones I'd like to get. To each his own I guess, or whatever floats your boat😜
I just picked up Feeding Time and I'm blown away. I don't normally care for these types of puzzle games, but they did an outstanding job on the animation quality and the mechanics. The dev is boasting it as a no-IAP app, and personally I think that alone merits some success.
There's a lot of great stuff on the list, but don't miss this one.
