‘Rayman Fiesta Run’ Updated with 16 New Levels and a Brutal Nightmare Mode

TouchArcade Rating:

In November of last year, Ubisoft added another entry into their mobile series of Rayman games with Rayman Fiesta Run ($2.99). Like its predecessor Rayman Jungle Run, it blended the whimsical Rayman universe with the auto-running platformer that works so well on touchscreens, but took things a step further by making complex levels that required pinpoint precision and reflexes in order to succeed in. It really was a great mashup of runner and traditional platformer that we absolutely loved in our review. This week, a major update has landed for Rayman Fiesta Run, adding a new Candy-themed world with 16 new levels and a brand new boss encounter. In addition, a new Nightmare Mode will truly test the hardcore as you try to make your way through 36 straight levels in one run without dying.

If you somehow haven’t played either Rayman Jungle Run or Rayman Fiesta Run on iOS yet, you’re really missing out. While I’m still hoping that Ubisoft brings ports of the full Rayman console games to iOS, they’ve really accomplished something special with these games by mixing together traditional platforming with something that has already proven to work well on touchscreens. Definitely check out either or both, and if you’re already a Rayman Fiesta Run fan then be sure to grab the latest update and give the new levels and Nightmare Mode a spin.

And in other news, hell just froze over.

    2. dribblejam

Happy about everything but the internet connection..I'll get over it;)

      1. elr0y7

Likewise. I like how games like this and X-men are avoiding iap, and going for a good premium model.

        1. Aaron

Yeah i was shocked when i found out x-men doesnt have any iaps

    3. Grummie

Was gonna jump onboard but with no mfi support no fanks

      1. Max

Then you have the wrong device. Get a psvita

        1. DLAROC

Its not the wrong device... One of the biggest features with iOS7 is controller support.. Gameloft not adding it to their games is only going to cost them sales. Especially for a game like this.

      2. Chungston

I like using my iPad with a controller. They should add support.

    4. hourglass

      Good.

    5. {SQUEEK}

      Yay!

    6. JC85

SHOULD BE FREE WITHOUT IAPS AND ADS

      1. Boris Nguetie

now why would they do that?

        1. Lazyninja7

          Pretty sure he's a troll

          1. Rebel Fourteen

Best way to spot a troll: Are they typing in all caps?

      2. XboxOne

That is just retarded. They got to make money for all the time and effort they put into making Modern Combat 5. You broke idiot.

        1. JC85

you are the idiot for taking it serious

          1. Rebel Fourteen

Just look at his username. He obviously isn't a very good thinker. Besides, he's been trolling this whole comment section like an annoying tick.

    7. Lazyninja7

Reading this article, I'm thinking "Finally! Gameloft listened!", but then I saw always online required.

Quite annoying, but if it does help with banishing hackers, I'm down.

      1. Themostunclean

Thank you. I for one and glad Gameloft has decided go back to a premium model, even if it means always on.

    8. Intendro

And yet it requires an Internet connection...
Also, "to take advantage of cloud saving." This... only requires a connection whenever you access the cloud... Try again!

      1. sweetdiss

So when's your game coming out?

        1. Intendro

          ...Eh?
Did I seriously get mocked for saying how stupid constant Internet requirement is, and pointing out that one part isn't even a valid excuse?
Why would anyone want to deal with a restriction? And you mocked people who don't? You're serious?

    9. dancj

Internet connection required means I'm out.

      Shame.

      1. coolpepper43

Same, this is bad for iPad owners. I was so excited but when I saw the internet requirement I almost cried.

        1. XboxOne

Then get rid of your damn tablet and get an iPhone 5s.

          1. Mozaik

What the hell iPad air is much much better for gaming due to 10" inch screen.

      2. Aaron

like dariusjr98 said, "The always-on Internet connection isn't even bad, and it makes sense in
this case. This isn't a quick 5-second game that you play on a bus ride
home, this is a AAA title, a title you will want to sit back, relax, and
enjoy AT HOME. You know, where your Wi-Fi is?"

        1. demod1

It's called mobile gaming for a reason. I have three consoles and a PC at home. Internet connection required is a no go for me too.

          1. Lewis

Yeah but the best part of the Modern Combat games is the multiplayer and you are always going to need wifi for that. I mean, truth be told I have never even played the campaign for any of the games all the way through because the multiplayer is so great so I don't really see how this will change anything.

          2. XboxOne

You have 3 consoles and a PC. Good for you kiddo! Mama must be proud of you!

          3. Llamageton

Heck, even on those @home systems, you don't even have to be online to play your games (even with Steam).

        2. Rebel Fourteen

But to be a mobile game, it should be playable anywhere you go. If I'm playing away from home on my iPad, I'd like to be able to jump in and play. Not get stopped and getting told that I can't play because I have no connection.

          1. XboxOne

Who plays on their iPad outside their own home?

        3. OrangeJews

So everyone has a wifi at home, huh?

          1. sticktron

            Well yeah, pretty much.

        4. XboxOne

          The graphics aren't AAA.

      3. Eric Yang

Multiplayer, which requires online anyway, has been the only redeeming feature to the modern combat series since 3. Relying on 4G is too laggy and the single player hasn't been worth it since Modern Combat 2.

    10. Jake7905

Well, they got it half right. Don't get me wrong, no IAP's in a Gameloft release is a very big deal, and is reason enough to get excited. But requiring an internet connection for single player content is a step in the wrong direction.

      1. DuckyShot

I'm still buying the game tho :)

      2. Salsander

I assume they took away the IAPs only to appease people concerned about the always online aspect.

    11. 5hift

Don't really know what's worse... Constant internet connection or IAPs. I mean, I never really bought IAPs for Modern Combat games... So I guess constant internet connection is worse. Game looks good, but constant internet connection is a huge step back.

      1. XboxOne

If you want hackers gone you would've agreed with always on connection requirement to detect them...

        1. dancj

I only play single player so I don't care if hackers are gone.

          1. marcanthony0313

If you're seriously buying and playing a Modern Combat title for its single-player, then you must really be missing something.

      2. Speedster117

        I agree

    12. CkX82

Where as i completely understand the frustration of always needing an internet connection for me personally im only playing for multiplayer so im cool with it.

    13. CkX82

They should have bailed on the unified progression to allow no connection for singleplayer and keep it completely separate from multiplayer

    14. ridiculocity

Another cool game I won't be able to play on my iPad mini retina 128gb wifi on my long train commute to work. Lame!

      1. Superslippy

Buy a wifi hotspot or use your phone as one. Version MIFI works well. I have one and I have AT&T

        1. Rebel Fourteen

Not everyone can do that. -_-

          1. XboxOne

            then too bad.

      2. XboxOne

        Poor little baby! :'(

    15. dariusjr98

The always-on Internet connection isn't even bad, and it makes sense in this case. This isn't a quick 5-second game that you play on a bus ride home, this is a AAA title, a title you will want to sit back, relax, and enjoy AT HOME. You know, where your Wi-Fi is?

      1. Boris Nguetie

they said during the twitch streaming that they splitted the missions in shorter ones to make it more mobile friendly so more playable on the go.... BIG PLOT HOLE HERE! not complaining (at least not anymore) cauz i'm now more pumped for the multiplayer, i just wanted to point this out.

      2. Speedster117

Except the spec ops missions are like little 5 minute missions you can do while on the go, so being always online is a huge contradiction.

    16. DuckyShot

If the camos and stuff are coming in updates, that means that the game is finished and that Gameloft is just polishing and tweaking the game for release :D

    17. Based Xatu

      When is nova 4 coming?

    18. surirav

Good that more like it. And also stop continu required internet and unfair banning.

    19. oxmuzzle

Does this mean multiplayer over cellular is happening? If so this is the most mobile modern combat ever, even if it does need an always on connection.

    20. Amenbrother

      Wow thats awesome news!

    21. NPeart

Ok, then!! If it even has an option to turn that ridiculous auto aim off, and turn gyro aiming on, I will surely buy it, even if it costed 14,99.

    22. YouGotHeadshot

I can't believe people are complaining that an online multiplayer game has a requirement to be online.. Like come on people..

      1. Rebel Fourteen

It's not just an online game. If it's like most FPSs then it should have a campaign mode. THAT IS NOT ONLINE.

    23. Jhrisado

No MFI support???? Sigh.....I hope that as well as voice chat would soon be available

    24. Crimzzen

      Bravo!!

    25. curtisrshideler

Internet connection on another paid game? Not gonna go for it. Wish we could go back to the old Gameloft.

    26. Shifaan

Honestly in my opinion, I'd safely say I could go for a game with iap rather than a game with full internet connectivity. Seriously Gameloft, WHY? This is happening with a lot of the most anticipated great new games lately (full internet connection and/or iap together) for example:
The Amazing Spiderman 2, Dead Trigger 2 and Modern Combat 5 just to name a couple.
But again, I'd rather still purchase a game with iAP than buy a game with full-time internet connection.

    27. seantyas

I agree, I buy these games to mostly play on airplanes, or while in other countries while I most likely have no or very crappy connections. This is a real pain in the ass to have to be connected. Obviously multiplayer should require Internet but single player campaign? Pretty weak, I'd actually pay an IAP purchase if one existed to remove that!

      1. Intendro

An IAP to remove Internet requirement?! Don't encourage them to make people buy more stuff that shouldn't have to be bought, like portability on an already portable system!

    28. oriel123

Is it a lobby chat?cause its hard for us to,chat with other players

    29. Revengercm

Why people complain about being online?! Online is better, freaking saves your progress. I prefer to not play the game than losing my 100 hours account. Crybabies...

      1. seantyas

Why crybabies? Mobile games shouldn't require Internet constant connection. This the term mobile.

        1. Kenan2000

If you wanna play with speedhackers and 1 hitters in the multiplayer then sure, you will be happy with not constant internet connection.

      2. Intendro

Data saves offline. iTunes backups and iCloud backups back up your save data without removing portability! And without any of them doing stuff like "Connection lost, there went all your progress since last save."

        1. Intendro

*I mean, of course, iCloud backups that actually only require connecting while accessing said data... Like it actually makes sense to!

          1. Revengercm

Constantly is still better. Safer to trust. Itunes backup is awful and anything can happen to your idevice. Get used to online games. You're right here commenting with probably an internet that you have always so why these people complain. Constantly online might even be better for the devs to manage things, they choose that direction for something you know?

            1. Intendro

If you don't trust a backup you can make whenever you want, or even an online backup that logically only requires Internet when using it because it's pointless to require otherwise, how do you trust any backup? Your argument doesn't make sense.

And just because someone has Internet doesn't mean it's everywhere... My room has no connection, I have no wifi, Internet doesn't exist everywhere on the road, or everywhere on the planet I'm at when I want to play games...

It's a stupid restriction that removes portability in a portable system!
Internet requirement doesn't even make sense for a single player mode!
              It's ridiculous!

          2. Revengercm

Or don't buy the game. It's a game, you don't need to buy. Stop complaining something that won't be changed, this is gameloft we're talking. Buy some other game or buy a console or don't play video games.

            1. Intendro

People complain in the hope that the bad things will be fixed. Because if no one complains, nothing would ever get fixed. That's how things work.

              1. Revengercm

Did they removed the internet connection with spider man 2... No? Why would they do the same to this one? Like I said, they have their reasons and if you don't like the idea don't buy it. There's a lot of games that require online play for single player, nothing is new.

                1. John

Actually, they did remove it with Spider-Man 2, sooo......

    30. greatnoob

Improved lighting and physics engine? Sweet. Persistent Internet connection? No biggie, stops hackers. Battery life? I'm happy with 30 mins of gameplay.

    31. Mess

So... Any news what the price will actually be as there are no IAPs? I would assume that normally subsidises the price, so $10?

    32. NPeart

So does it require online connection in single player...or does it have a campaign?

      1. dancj

        Both

      2. Speedster117

It has a campaign but you need to be online to play it, pretty retarded.

        1. NPeart

Yes, Gameloft might have got the dlc's worth of change from the internet providers.

    33. Ultima12

This is awesome news all around!!! Wow!! Good job, Gameloft!!!

    34. Devok

NO Internet connection is only required for online multiplayer, And for single player it does not. Common sense that it is for multiplayer only, why would any company even make single player online?

      1. Mess

Synchronised progression and to prevent hackers.

    35. cookiesEater

Shut Up and take my money gameloft

    36. Mekklesack

Tight! My only hope us that Gameloft "optimizes" the app. We have the latest iPads and iPhones it should work on our current devices for a long time (hopefully).

Otherwise, all of this information sounds like a utopia, especially when it comes to hackers...

    37. seantyas

It says Internet connection is required same like in hearthstone. In single player practice hearthstone u still need Internet connection

    38. Devok

And what would hackers want to hack a single
Player game? Consistent online multiplayer is where it comes in. If single get hacked theres no way it will effect multiplayer, the game would simply crash. Maybe gameloft worries that people would cheat single player so customers don't pay for their IAPs.

    39. Speedster117

Wtf? That's retarded, I don't want a single player game where you have to always be online. The game was looking good but now it's ruined.

      1. seantyas

100% with you. I loved campaigning on long flights. Was the ultimate time killer

    40. DLAROC

Not buying it if it doesn't have MFI controller support. Gameloft is really stupid for not adding it. Gamelofts duo controller was discontinued and only worked with 3 games. Do they think because that failed, that people don't want to use a controller?? One of the best features of iOS7 is controller support. I thought for sure Gameloft would add it to MC5. GAMELOFT, IF YOU ARE READING THIS, ADD iOS7 MFI CONTROLLER SUPPORT TO YOUR GAMES!!!

    41. DLAROC

The only reason I can think of why Gameloft would not add controller support is because players who are using touch controls would get blasted and wouldn't stand a chance.

    42. Revengercm

What a disgrace to play mobile games. No iaps and all they see is the stupid online feature. The campaign is just beat it and never play it. So why is it so important. Why would people want to play where there's no wifi instead of doing things around them. Pretty sure a lot of places have wifi. If you want a fps that doesn't require internet to play campaign go buy an xbox, ps or wii. Don't expect mobile games to be similar. They're not stupid, that's a smart move, no hackers allowed even in campaign, that's how we roll. Don't buy this masterpiece just because of 5-10 hours of gameplay needed to be connected to the internet.

    43. Llamageton

Hate the always online part, considering it's not an MMO. Completely kills the point of a mobile game (a game you can play anywhere, anytime without restrictions). I'll probably still get it once there's a sale.
