When Bean’s Quest ($2.99) first launched in mid-2011, it was very weird to review, as the game could seriously be beaten in five minutes. It had a rock solid concept, but almost no content. You quickly beat the game and got a “Coming Soon!" screen. Well, developer Kumobius came through in a massive way as the game is now loaded to the brim with levels to power through.
With Time Surfer ($0.99) currently on sale for free, it seems relevant to roll the clocks back to the days of Bean’s Quest. Jared and I play through the first world, or, what used to be in the original release of the game:
Seriously, download Bean’s Quest. The constantly-jumping mechanic allows for cool level-based achievements, the controls are great, and it’s just all-around a super-fun game. I cannot wait for its sequel.

This game is amazingly well-designed and the controls work wonderfully. I personally do believe that this is the best platformer available for iOS. Seriously, play it.

Good question, you could try not to upload anything really important or private. I will open an account specifically for this app so no important files go there, just ROMs.
Yes I completely agree. If the developer was sneaky enough to high the emulator in it, he could well have hidden something else more malicious there to.
Or perhaps I'm wrong and he's just a cool dude who wanted to deliver a nice product at a sweet price. But either way it's better to be safe than sorry, right

I have just tested it with Breath of fire 2. It seems to be perfect. Onscreen buttons are a bit small to my taste, but the emulation is flawless.
Not worth buying, you can get an SNES emulator from emu4ios without jailbreaking. Works great, you can also get a screen recorder.

I experienced the same thing at first when Googling it however if you directly select the "Downloads" subpage of the site on Google you skip the survey crap.
Then I would just download the snes version?
I downloaded the snes program but when I open the app it just stays open for a millisecond and closes.
There are two SNES emulators available on the site. "SNES4iOS" crashed for me, so I recommend the other one, "SiOS". Also make sure you changed the date to 2012 and make sure to open the app once before switching the date back to 2013.

OK that worked fine, it opens to a screen that says games on the top of it. And I set my date back to the correct date. So now I just use Safari and go to any snes rom site and download roms and open with SiOS? Not bad, just wanted to check it out. I probably have purchased all my favorite SNES games about 4 times already over the years so I don't feel all that bad (and I continue to do so on the Wii U)

No, it is completely legal to develop, use, and own emulators (like this one) in the US.
It is also legal to use it with ROM files you have personally created from your own, physical copy of a game. However, it is definitely illegal to use a ROM file for a game you haven't purchased. And the grey area is whether you can use a ROM for a game which you own, but have not personally encoded. Consider a music analogy; you can digitally rip your own physical albums, but not download others' personally ripped tracks -- even if the information is exactly the same. (FU, Congress)
In any case, the mp3 player you use to play either track is completely legal, and so is this emulator. Fear not!

I wish I knew how to get this to work. I downloaded that app, I have dropbox. But I don't have a computer, only my iPad so I don't know how to get ROMs into dropbox. I'm not even sure if that is what I'm supposed to do lol....any help?
Without a computer, you're basically up the creek without a paddle. It's also probably not a good idea to ask for help with getting ROMs.
I was able to easily download roms and set everything up without a computer. Just set up a dropbox account and go to cool roms. Select a game and download it. It will ask if you want to open in dropbox and say yes. Then select where you want to put it in dropbox. Once in dropbox, open up the emulator and select the file in dropbox.
If you have the Dropbox app, it's very simple.
Use the drop box app or iFiles to copy the content onto Dropbox. But I would recommend making a separate Dropbox account for this app, because by virtue of the fact that this game has a hidden emulator, there is a serious potential for it containing hidden malware too.

It seems the same to me. In fact this one seems better because I don't have to keep changing the date on my device to get it working.
You only have to change the date the first time you open it after installing. Then you can keep it at 2013. I only say it's way better because it doesn't require a constant internet connection or the use of dropbox. Other than that they are the same.
I wish TA would avoid reporting these things. Speeds up the expiration date like crazy.

Button mapping on iCade mobile and 8-bitty isn't great - some fire buttons use shoulder buttons (still workable though) but with iCade proper it plays like a charm.

Out of curiosity, has nobody else here tried out the emulators on emu4ios? I mean, the only weird thing about them is having to set your device back to 2012 for install, but aside from that you get apps that are straight-up emulators, not apps hiding emulators inside of them.
I tried the "time machine"-trick and it works perfectly. The only problem is that you are allowed to install just 1 of those "emus". in that case grab the snes emu from here and install p.e. the gba emu from emus4ios. my advice is: grab every emulator or screen recorder which is avaible at iOS, and always make a backup of the app

Quick question - Does anyone have an iCade 8-bitty or iCade mobile they use with this? I'm curious what the button layout is.
I've tried it with my 8-bitty and the button mapping is terrible. In Mario World, L is jump, Start is spin jump and one of the face buttons is run.
I've just had a comb through the files hoping to find a config file that can be changed but I wasn't able to find anything. Annoyingly the on-screen buttons don't disappear when using the 8-bitty either.
I suppose it's passable if you're playing a fairly easy game, but if it's something tricky like Super Ghouls 'n' Ghosts it's probably going to be quite frustrating.

The virtual buttons are a bit weak, since they are small and unmovable, but they work. Having SNES, and Super Metroid especially, has finally given me the drive to pick up an iCade.

How do you backup ipa, do we go into the itunes folder and copy the ip file to portable device? I downloaded the file, so ite got my signature. Is it that easy, the. Reinstall from itunes whenever i want?
Yes - connect to iTunes and find transfer purchases from xx iphone. There copied to the iTunes folder :)
So it is the "Transfer purchase" option! I wasn't sure what the difference was between a regular sync, back-up option and that transfer purchase. Disclaimer: I'm a brand new iProduct owner.
Everyone should make sure to do this as soon as possible so you don't forget.
You can just drag the ipa file to a pen and backup it that way. Next time, when you want to add it again to itunes, just import it again (as long as youre signed in with the same account as the ipa file was downloaded with)

Roms must have the smc extension. Some snes roms come with the sfc extension, or another one. Just rename

You need to download roms to your Dropbox then open the rom or zip file from the app.

Does this work with other controllers? Other than the icade? Duos? Ect.....
If you were able to download it it will work but I think a lot of people were like me and didn't realize that some of the ROMs are saved using the "*.sfc" extension when this program requires the "*.smc" file extension.
So to get it to work all you need to do is rename the ROM file name to ***.smc from whatever it originally was and it will boot right up.
F zero runs well ;))) first one I always try;)

Am I the only one who thinks its fishy that this app has been around since November of LAST year. Maybe this app IS legal. Isn't the only reason emulators are not allowed on the App Store because it requires you to download stuff from the Internet and save it to your iPod. But now that you download it via Dropbox is it allowed?
If by some slim chance the peeps that made this app look here please add .7z extensions :) also dpad good on controllers but can be cumbersome on screen maybe change it to a virtual joystick ;)))
They also need to update this and remove the virtual stick overlays when using icade and the ipad in landscape mode

Totally Awesome!!! Just downloaded and tried Earthbound. Works perfectly! Even without an icade totally playable. For the games that rely on the shoulder buttons though I would suggest investing in a controller. Thanks TA!!
And don't forget this app does so much more! Play your mp3's and watch your videos in mp4 format. Dropbox only gives 2 gb for free but that's more than enough space. Tested both and they also work perfectly. Best 99 cents you'll ever spend. Grab it while u can!

.nes are NES roms. This is a SNES emu.
The file ends with ".zip" and then i change it to ".smc" but i only get a black screen,help. :/
Don't need to change zip to smc it will unzip it itself then play ;)
You need to rename the file inside of the zip file not the name of the zip file itself.

A question about emu4ios...Is there any difference between the SNES and GBA emulators or the Awesome Baby Name and this Remote File emus? I already have the two from the App Store (and the old Nescaline, which I can't get to work anymore)...so I'm thinking about downloading a Genesis or GB emulator from emu4ios if there's no difference in the GBA & SNES emus.
Also, are there any negative effects to changing the time on my iPhone?

It's gone in the US store as of this morning. How do I back-up that one app on my iphone? Not sure if its part of the regular sync I do for movies and music or if I have to do a "purchase transfer".

I'm curious what games people are playing with this given the fact that the controls are a bit cumbersome on an idevice. (Super Mario, for example, is almost impossible.) I've had success with Raiden Trad and F-Zero.

Close the app entirely than restart it. That's what I had to do. When you restart it should be there.
