Last week, Konami revealed the first gameplay for eFootball 2022 following its announcement announcement from July. eFootball 2022 is a drastic change to Konami’s eFootball PES series with a new engine and the game designed for cross platform play with seasonal content and more planned. Today, Konami confirmed that eFootball PES 2021 (Free) will be updated to eFootball 2022 this Autumn. The game will be completely overhauled with the new engine, features, and more coming. Konami clarified that some in-game items will be carrying over into eFootball 2022 once the update arrives. Konami also revealed that eFootball 2022 will hit consoles and PC on September 30th. The mobile release date is yet to be announced but the release window is ‘Autumn 2021’. Details for what carries over are here. Watch the first eFootball 2022 gameplay below:
eFootball 2022 on iOS and Android will also be updated for free with controller support (this will not be available at launch), cross platform matchmaking for all controller-based players, and more.
Check out the eFootball 2022 roadmap here from the original game announcement. Check out the official website here. I’m interested to see how this model works out against $70 releases from other yearly sports games on on PS5 and Xbox Series systems. Full cross platform support is a welcome addition though. Ahead of the eFootball release, you can check out the currently available eFootball PES 2021 worldwide on iOS and Android.
