In November last year, Amanita Design celebrated the 15th anniversary of Samorost 2 ($1.99) with a surprise mobile release in addition to a huge update to the PC version. Samorost 2 was never on mobile before that and it followed the 2016 released Samorost 3 ($6.99) made some including myself wonder if the original would ever be released on mobile. Jakub Dvorsky of Amanita Design today confirmed that Samorost will be coming soon to the App Store and Google Play. The point and click adventure game that originally released in 2003 has you directing a small gnome while solving puzzles and brain teasers that play out as an adventure story. Check out the official website of the game here. Amanita Design recently released a documentary looking going behind the scenes during the development of Samorost 3. Watch it below:
Samorost was created by Jakub while he was a student at the Academy of Arts, Architecture, and Design in Prague. I’m glad that it is finally coming to mobile soon so the trilogy will be available on modern devices. While there isn’t any release date yet, Amanita Design will likely either announce one soon or just shadow drop it on mobile. Until then, you can buy Samorost 2 on the App Store for iOS here and on Google Play for Android here. Samorost 2 was Amanita Design’s first new App Store release since Pilgrims and Creaks hit Apple Arcade. Hopefully the company’s Happy Game also hits iOS alongside the other platforms in a timely manner either through a standalone release or Apple Arcade. What is your favourite Amanita Design release?
