Back in 2018, pre-registrations for Arc the Lad R from Sony and ForwardWorks began with a Japanese release that followed soon after. Arc the Lad R is based on Sony’s Arc the Lad franchise that debuted in Japan back in 1995 on the original PlayStation. Sony’s ForwardWorks was founded to bring some of its IP and some third party IP in Japan to iOS and Android. The development team for Arc the Lad R includes some of the core staff who worked on the first two PlayStation entries in the 90s and the game itself is set a decade after the events of Arc the Lad II. Boltrend Games brought Idola Phantasy Star Saga to the West and the company is now giving Arc the Lad R a global release. Watch the trailer for Arc the Lad R below:
Arc the Lad R features strategic battles and charactrs from the original games. When it launched in Japan, a localisation wasn’t even hinted at. Boltrend Games is publishing it globally and doing a closed beta for Arc the Lad R beginning November 19th until November 29th. Check out the official English website for it here. It mentions Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, and Malaysia as eligible regions which likely is for the closed beta. A release window or even pre-registration details aren’t available as of this writing. Hopefully Boltrend Games announces release details for Arc the Lad R soon. The official English trailer for the game is on the website here. If you’d like to check out the Japanese version, it is available for free here on the App Store for iOS and here on Google Play for Android. Did you play the Japanese release of Arc the Lad R or were you holding off for a potential localisation?
