This month has been wild if you’re a fan of Vblank’s games. Retro City Rampage ($4.99) and its sequel Shakedown: Hawaii were announced for Nintendo Wii physical release in addition to a physical release on Wii U for the latter. Barring that news for collectors, Vblank also announced a huge update for Retro City Rampage DX on all platforms including iOS and Android. The update is so big that Vblank has dubbed the new version of the game Retro City Rampage DX+. This massive update involved a lot of visual improvements, camera improvements, UI tweaks, and basically a lot of things making the game feel better to play now. This also included more aspect ratios being supported. The update was revealed to show up at some point this month on iOS and it went live over the weekend. I’ve been playing it on iPhone 11. Check out a screenshot from it below:
A lot of the other improvements including how Vblank redid various things for visuals are detailed here. The update is free on all platform and I think Retro City Rampage DX+ is one of the few games available on so many platforms ranging from Nintendo Wii to DOS to PSP to mobile and even modern consoles. When it launched on iOS a while ago, we enjoyed our time with it as detailed in our review and chose it as our Game of the Week. It is great to have it support modern iOS devices now with so many improvements. Have you played it yet?
