Apple Arcade Goes Live in iOS 13 Beta, Here’s the Full List of Launch Titles

Up until this point in Apple’s beta versions of the upcoming iOS 13 launch, their new Apple Arcade service has its very own tab in the App Store but it’s only been a placeholder page thus far. That appears to be changing today with the service going live in the latest version of the iOS 13 beta for a number of users. I’m not currently running the beta of iOS 13 so, in light of this news, I’ll need to spend the rest of my day fiddling around with getting that working, because I’m too impatient to wait until iOS 13’s official launch this Thursday. With Apple Arcade starting to be out in the wild, that also means we have a glimpse at the titles that should be available with the official launch later this week, as noted by our sister site Macrumors. So ever since Apple Arcade’s initial unveiling back in March, Apple has stated that the service will feature more than 100 games as part of a paying subscription. What we weren’t sure of until now is if all 100 or so of those games would be available right away or not, and it appears that in reality roughly half of them will be there on day one. Apple has also said new games will make their way into Apple Arcade on a weekly basis, so we’ll probably be hitting that 100 mark and beyond before too long anyway. At the very least there is NO shortage of awesome stuff to play on day one, so if you’re on the iOS 13 beta bandwagon definitely sign up for the free one month trial to check it all out, and if not be sure to update to iOS 13 when it officially launches on Thursday to see what Apple Arcade has to offer.

All the references above to iOS 13. Can I substitute them for iPadOS?

    1. Thomas Zink

Yes, confirmed using on my iPad Pro with iPadOS beta.

Will all, or any of these games be available to purchase on its own without a subscription?

    1. Timmy2x

I don’t see any buy now buttons but I wouldn’t rule it out later.

    2. Blazer

Not, those games will be exclusive to apple arcade and this is confirmed by apple, exclusive for mobile i mean, but some of those games will be available for ps4

      1. Swiffer

Wow that sucks. So for people who don’t subscribe to Arcade, we can’t buy the best games anymore?

$5 a month, for curated premium games with no IAP, ads or watch this video bullshit? SOLD.

          1. Swiffer

Ok, but let’s say I want to play one game for six months. Suddenly that premium price is looking really attractive. And I can come back and play it again next year. I don’t know, it just seems crappy that we have great new phones and can’t even access the best games without paying even more.

I think part of the problem is that we've been conditioned to view "premium" on mobile as in the $5-10 dollar range, when in reality it should have been more like the $20-30 (or even $50-60 range for some titles) just to continue being sustainable. If we lived in that reality (or if mobile was more like console) the price of just a few premium games would buy you years of the Apple Arcade service with over 100 games.

I'm not saying I disagree with you, though. I grew up buying a game outright and always being able to play it whenever I want as long as I still owned the physical media it came on. Transitioning to digital app stores has been challenging, and transitioning to subscriptions and games as a service has been too. But as someone who easily spends more than $5 a month on mobile gaming, Apple Arcade is just an unbelievably amazing deal for the breadth and quality of the titles on offer even just at launch.

Will I be pissed if in 5 years I can't go back and play say Sayonara Wild Hearts or something because I no longer subscribe or maybe the service itself isn't even around anymore? Yeah, but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it, and in the meantime I'm fully along for the ride.

This will be only on ios 13 or ios 2.4 will have it too?

I'm really enjoying Grindstone quite a lot.

It feels like Christmas and I got a new console. Only difference is I can afford all the games! Having a cracking evening with Sayonara, speed demons, assemble and Oceanhorn 2. Can’t recommend the service enough at the moment....
