Brazilian developer Cat Nigiri will be present at PAX West this weekend, and naturally they’ll be brining a couple of games in tow with them. First up is their ultra hardcore two-button Metroidvania called Necrosphere which launched on Steam in August of last year and is destined for PS4, PS Vita, and Nintendo Switch sometime this year. We actually previewed Necrosphere prior to its Steam release last year as it was originally planned for iOS in addition to those other platforms. Mobile wasn’t mentioned in Cat Nigiri’s latest press release, but we’ll be sure to get to the bottom of the situation at PAX, as I think Necrosphere would be a fabulous fit on mobile. What IS announced for mobile along with consoles and PC is their super interesting looking tactical combat puzzler Keen. Imagine a sliding block puzzler, but with turn-based combat and a killer aesthetic, and that’s pretty much Keen in a nutshell. Check out the trailer.
Keen actually gives me vibes of another very well-received sliding puzzler, Blue Wizard’s wonderful Slayaway Camp and its officially licensed spinoff Friday the 13th: Killer Puzzle. The developer’s own description of Keen states: “Guide Kim, a grumpy little girl raised by her grandmother to save the world, on her journey to stop an evil corporation from destroying her village." As mentioned both of these titles will be on display and playable at PAX west this weekend, so we’ll be sure to brave the crowds and seek out their booths to check ’em out and get the skinny. Keen is planned for release in Q1 of next year, and you can download a desktop demo of it on Steam if you want to check it out early.
