Blizzard’s first post Ben Brode (LINK) Hearthstone(Free) expansion is The Boomsday Project. This expansion has 135 new cards and for a change, there are two pre-purchase options. Instead of the usual $49.99 bundle only, there’s now a mega bundle option as well. The 50 pack bundle that’s $49.99 includes a Mecha-Jaraxxus card back in addition to a Golden Class Legendary. The $79.99 bundles includes 80 card packs, the same bonuses as the 50 pack bundle and an all new Mecha-Jaraxxus Warlock Hero. The new mechanics are interesting to say the least. Watch the announcement trailer below:
One of the new mechanics is Omega cards. These cards reward you for playing them when you have 10 mana crystals. Magnetic is a new keyword on cards that lets you merge Mech minions by bringing their abilities, health, and attack together to create new super powerful minions. If you enjoyed Dungeon Run, there’s a new single player experience arriving alongside the new expansion in the form of The Puzzle Lab. More details for this mode will be revealed soon.
Hearthstone is still free to play and available on iOS, Android, and PC platforms. If you’re interested in jumping back after being away for a while, check out the new expansion website here. The Boomsday Project launches on August 7th worldwide. I’m looking forward to the new single player content but I’ll hold judgement on the mechanics until I actually get to play with the new cards because some of it while interesting feels a bit off right now.
